Description

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Blanchard comes a small town military romantic thriller where a single dad will risk everything to rescue a woman in need. He doesn’t know me, but he’ll die to save me. Or at least, that’s the gist I get when I’m taken hostage by a psycho with a gun. He’d meant to take a little girl, but I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t try to save her. Now I’m in her place instead and my captor is determined to blow it sky high unless his demands are met. She doesn’t know me, but I owe her everything. My daughter is my world. After I gave up my career as a Marine to move closer to be with her, I thought I would stay out of danger. And yet here I am diving right back into it. The rush of adrenaline at a new mission is almost as enticing as the woman who saved my daughter. Getting distracted by her sharp wit and bravery is the last thing I should do, but I can’t help but be drawn to her despite the danger. If we make it to morning, maybe I’ll work up the nerve to take the biggest risk of all...losing my heart. Anchor takes place in the First to Fight series, but may be read as a standalone. Read more

  • Anchors away....
I enjoyed reading "Anchor". It was easy to follow and the characters grew in depth as the story progressed. I loved the interactions between Gabriel and Chloe. The supporting players, Tyler and Emily, also added to the story. No spoiler alerts here. You'll have to read the book to find out what it's all about. ... show more

  • Danger, Action & Romance
This is a very action-packed, edge of your seat, thrill ride of a romance. Chloe and Gabe's story has strong feelings of both intensity and urgency tied to it. This did lend a somewhat instalove feel to it all because there was really very little of that "getting to know you" stage. However, I felt that this made perfect sense and worked beautifully with the story that was being told. I would liken this engaging read to the movie, Speed. These two are brought together in an unexpected and violent way and their attraction takes off from there. The danger level in this book is very high, and with the same type of thing happening all too often in our world today, things can feel uncomfortably realistic. I thought that Chloe was amazing! She may have been a self-proclaimed klutz but she was also strong, feisty and a true hero. Gabe was quit swoony and had a bit of a wounded heart. I really liked these two together. Their chemistry was steamy and once they got the chance they created lots of sizzling heat. Some humor, sweetness and tender moments are sprinkled throughout this read to add some balance to the seriousness. I couldn't stop myself from feeling that a few things were just glossed over or simply missing from the story though. Still, this was a very enjoyable read and I will be reading more of this series. ... show more

  • Short but intense plot
It took me about a night to finish this book, but it had me on my toes the whole time. I love the way they pull you in to feel what the two main characters are feeling. Plus, who doesn't love a good action/romance plot.

  • First I've read by this author
This is the first I've read by this author after seeing an ad for this book. And I have to say I love it. It starts out and you think same Ole typical alpha male saves the day but I was surprised when the Damsel In Distress wasn't as much of a Damsel as I thought. A must read book.

  • Missed the mark with so many timeline issues
I really wanted to love this book. I have a soft spot for an Alpha hero but the timing in this book was off for me. Not only that, there were SO MANY inconsistencies. Where were the Beta readers? Most stories in this genre of romance books are slightly unbelievable (and that's what I love about them) but this was over the top. He's really going to kiss her 5 seconds after trying to rescue her without ever having met her before?? I'm going to give the next book in the series a try and hope they get better. Again . . . I really wanted to love this book but it just really missed the mark for me. ... show more

  • NEED TO BE RESCUED? ...... GABRIEL ROSSI IS YOUR MAN!!!!!
Nicole Blanchard you will always be a "one-click" "go-to" author for me. Once again you have given me a story that I absolutely love. Anchor is the introductory Novella to the First to Fight Series and what an introduction it is!!!!! Prior to reading Anchor, I had already read Warrior and Survivor - both of which I loved. I thrilled when Nicole announced that she would be writing Gabe's story.....and she defintely DID NOT LET ME DOWN!!! Gabriel Rossi (Gabe) is a retired Marine. He now runs his own boating business, in Rockaway, and volunteers with the local Coast Guard. He loves his daughter Emily and would do absolutely anything for her. Chloe McKinney is a receptionist at her best friend's travel agency. She is on her way to Rockaway as a favour to her bestie, Sienna, to take pictures of a potential client for the agency. All is about to go wrong as Chloe boards the ferry to Rockaway and it is going to take the help of Gabe to make good of a dire situation. A hostage and kidnapping situation throws Gabe and Chloe together, forcing them to battle a manic assailant and dwindling time to save the passengers that remain on the ferry. Chloe shines in this role, she is smart, quit thinking and sassy, but she does need to keep her mouth closed at vital moments. She is yet another strong female charachter that Nicole has written about. Gabe tries hard to be the "knight in shining arnour", but things don't necessarily go the way he plans. The two together will lead the reader on a suspenseful journey, one that will have the reader guessing who the assailant is and why he is acting as he does. Nicole, as with her previous books ensures that there is a good amount of sexual tension between the two main characters. The banter between the two will, at times put a smile on your face. Nicole has written this story in dual POVs and it was perfect. there was not repition of events, just a continuation of how they both felt at given times. Once I picked up this book to readit, I siply good not put it down until it was finished. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Thank you Nicole. Definite FIVE STARS from me. ... show more
