I purchased the 16-Inch 5-Blade Push Reel Lawn Mower for a small area near my driveway culvert that I couldn't get to with my riding mower and was too large of an area for a trimmer. It was easy to put together, is lightweight and easy to maneuver. It cut the grass evenly and worked on hilly terrain which was important. The media could not be loaded. This American Lawn Mower performs well, efficiently cutting grass even in short distances due to its high blade rotation speed. For longer grass, especially over 10 inches, occasional passes may be needed, but after a couple of back-and-forths, most tall grass is successfully cut. Compared to gas engine mowers, it produces less noise, doesn't emit exhaust gases, and eliminates the need for an electric cord. It seems like mowing the lawn might become a future hobby. The Grass Catcher captures around 60%-70% of the grass, and while occasionally detaching during use, some improvements in this area would make it even better. The assembly was not too challenging, but clearer instructions, especially regarding where to attach the handle to the mower body, would be beneficial. Overall, a satisfactory product, and I'll provide updates if any issues arise during use. ... show more

I've been wanting one of these for years, and researched before choosing one. This one was perfect (video reviews really helped me decide), and the price was reasonable. It mows perfectly, even through a few weeds here and there. I do have to make multiple passes with longer, thicker grass at times, but that's to be expected. I wish it came with a grasscatcher, but maybe something we can get separately at some point. Really nice mower! ... show more

We only have a small patch of grass in our front yard so I thought it would be economical and environmental to buy one. Though it’s convenient, quiet, easy to store, it, however, isn’t sharp enough to cut through the dandelion weeds that have tall thick stems. I had to use scissors to trim them afterwards. I'm very pleased with this mower, and feel like I got really good value on this purchase. Assembled by myself in about 10 minutes. And it's very sharp right out of the box, and easy to clean, so it should stay sharp for a good long while. Cuts grass that's too tall for a motorized mower to get through, and a second pass mulched it well enough that there was no dead dried-out grass lying around the next day. When we keep up with mowing, our (admittedly quite small) yards only take ~20 minutes each, and because there's no motor I can easily listen to podcasts/audiobooks/music while mowing. It's quite lightweight and easy to maneuver, too, so it honestly barely feels like work to do the lawn. Which is good, because we are NOT lawn people. But this little mower makes our lawn look nice enough to fit into our neighborhood of people who are lawn people with minimal effort - what more can you ask for? P.S. I've had 2 people comment on how well this mower works in the couple months we've been using it. On two separate occasions, a dog walker and a UPS delivery person stopped to tell me how surprising it was to see someone using a reel mower with grass clippings flying up around them as they mowed, and how much better it seems to work than any other reel mower they've seen. This mower is a laugh, except you will have wasted $170 plus dollars. Spend $170 at a comedy club and it will be worth the laughs! This is not. If your patch of grass is not less than 10'×10', completely weed free, tiny tiny twig free you may as well cut it with a clipper on your hands and knees. The basket is teenie tiny itsy bitsy which actually doesn't really matter since the grass doesn't even fall in the basket anyways. This mower can't take the smallest birdnest twig so you have to make sure there is zero anything in your patch of grass or the blades get stuck. I thought this would be good for a flat narrow backyard, boy was I mistaken. Save yourself the frustration and go another route. ... show more

We have a smallish yard and this works beautifully. Quiet and really easy to use. Oh, and so much easier to store than a gas or electric mower. I also got the sharpener but haven't had to use it yet.
