    • The highest quality AA cells I have ever seen
Size: 100 Count (AA/LR6)
The price of D batteries sucks these days, but 'Amazon Basic AA high performance alkaline batteries' in bulk (100pcs) at 28 cents each (2024 $) is a bargain. Since I use 25x more AA batteries than I do D cells...its a no-brainer. In comparison to the more familiar brands, these have a 10 year shelf life (D cells only 5yr), and look and feel superior to Duracell and Rayovac, etc. I observed a consistent 1.7Vdc on all 69 cells I characterized prior to pack assembly. I needed 69 1.5V batteries in an assembled battery pack for an antique farm radio (tube type RCA 3BX-679 leather covered suitcase 'portable' ) that runs on +9 and +90Vdc. So I bought a case of 100 of these AA's and then a four-pack of triplet AA to D cell adapters. (also 10xAA battery holders -enough to make a 60S1P [90Vdc] pack). The estimated battery life in this radio is calculated to be about 400 hours for the pack, since the set's current consumption is very low. (90 Vdc @ 10mA and 9.5Vdc @ 45mA) The +9 supply is made up of either three D cells in series [3S1P] or, if you use three of these triple cell adapters, -nine AA's in a parallel/series [9S1P] arrangement. The cost is a little beyond equal, but I don't like D cells and besides, when it comes time to replace the individual cells in the pack, it is much easier to use all one type cells, but in this configuration, the option of mixing cell types is possible. This affords some flexibility in selection from available supplies. Logical and functional for this app. ... show more
