The fan on this is not as powerful as I wanted, but that is mainly because I am trying to use it for something it was not designed for. It is designed to boost the output from my air handler, but I am trying to use it move air from a warm room to a colder one using only the internal fan.     • Works!!
We got it for a room that is notorious for getting HOT every summer, 80 F hot, when the rest of the place is 72. I hated running AC and keeping the place so cold. But I did, since the problematic room has an axolotl tank, the water has to stay under 70 F at the very maximum. The room temperature has been driving the tank temp to 73, which is very dangerous for the axolotl. And it's not even summer yet! I got the Booster Fan yesterday, and OH MY GOD! The room is 70 F!!! It's insane!! I have the fan set on maximum setting, 10 - it is not loud at all, and is very very effective! The tank temp is now 65 F - which is great! I am so so relieved!     • Restricted my flow
I don’t really know the best way to review this product. It arrived and was in working order but when comparing my airflow without the unit to the airflow with the unit, my flow without it was stronger so it actually restricted my flow even at the highest speed. So yeah it works but if you already have airflow you can feel blowing out of your vent then this probably isn’t for you. Not as strong as you’d think it should be. ... show more

Helps maintain temperatures more evenly especially the rooms farther from the a/c unit. I bought a second booster for the kitchen.

    • It’s does work but don’t expect a significant difference.
Had low expectations but turned out to work just enough to finally be comfortable in my room. Been over a month and there has been an improvement. I don’t think this will work for everyone but I just need my room temp to go down even just 2 degrees would have been great, which it has! The air didn’t blow strong in my room but it did blow cold so this did help make it blow a little harder but when you feel it, it does seem like it’s blowing a lot harder so you really have to go by the actual temperature either by using a thermometer, but don’t measure hot walls or you get an accurate reading of temperature change. I haven’t really messed around with trying to make it turn on and off when the AC turns on so I just keep it on all the time, which may help a little too since the air in the vents should be cool even after the AC stops. So I’d say definitely try it out, especially if you only need the temperature to go down a few degrees. Otherwise you may need to add a jumper in the actual vents but I’d ask a real AC technician before doing anything else. ... show more

    • Exceeded my expectations, but read the operating instructions!
Beautiful and high quality; I had tried a number of things to get more heat to the far bedroom (mine); in the absence of dampers, primarily by masking other vents in warmer rooms. I hesitated to order, given the expense, thinking 'I don't need a thermostat... just give me the fan and charge less'. However, it is NOT a thermostat; it simply measure the airflow from the duct, so the fan will only kick in when it's actively heating or cooling. Running the fans when the air in my ducts is ambient temp would only add to the problem (for heating, anyway). So I would suggest triggering the fans via setting a temp... as soon as it senses the air from the HVAC is hotter (or cooler), meaning it's running... the fans kick in. I set a very low threshold... if the furnace is running, fans kick on in short order. If it overshoots and gets too hot in there, I will control this by turning the max fan speed setting down (vs. having it wait longer to kick on... this should keep it more consistent). It's fairly quiet- on max, still less sound than a small oscillating fan makes- so I won't be lowering the fan speed for noise considerations alone. In fact, the sound is similar to a white noise unit that one might purchase; perhaps it's just me, but I like it. So that teeny little LED screen is GREAT and allows a very high level of customization to your needs- bit of tweaking and you'll forget it even exists. Still a bit more costly than I might have expected, but worth it; I love it and would like to marry it, but marrying a duct fan is apparently not yet legal in my state? Highly recommend; beautiful finish and feels reliably sturdy. Time will tell about longevity- if anything occurs (increased fan noise or any weird blips to total failure- I will come back and edit this review. For now, I love her with all my (warm) heart.     • Works well, very helpful.
I have used this fan for 3 weeks now, and just ordered a second one. We recently remodeled our 2nd floor, and keep doors closed now due to pets. The change in airflow created hot and cool spots within our house. Opening and closing select vents was not enough. I have monitored the air temp in 2 updaters rooms. The one with the booster fan is continuously 3 degrees cooler than the one without. I even moved the fan back and forth between the rooms. Whichever room has the fan, is more comfortable. Hence, I ordered a second one. As far as operation goes, it couldn't be easier. I have my fan set to come on when it detects air cooler than 65 degrees coming out the vent (for A/C), or air hotter than 78 (for heat). Works like a charm. Quiet enough right next to the bed even on the highest fan setting. ... show more

    • Don't waste your money.
If you are expecting to significantly increase the cfm going into a room, you will be disappointed. The design obstructs airflow leaving little to no net gain in volume of air. It does however look very sleek and well packaged but overall it's not going to make much difference in changing the temperature or air velocity in a room. Even at top fan speed(#10), the little box fans just can't deliver. The manufacturer might consider switching to a squirrel cage set up. I could see how this product might be helpful if drawing air from a cooler room like a basement but as it's advertised, it just doesn't work well. ... show more
