  • Work great, but be careful about Amazon Warehouse items.
Style: 3-Way
These switches work great with Alexa and in my smart home. I have installed 14 Amazon switches (combination of 3-way dimmer and 3-way switches) over the past 30 days. Hardest part for 3-way wiring is always figuring out which wires in the electric box go to what. If installing a single pole (non 3-way), it is pretty straightforward assuming you have ground and neutral wires in the box (check before ordering, as no way to install without them!). If installing as a 3-way (all of my 14 but one!!!), you need to be handy with a tester and tracing wires. For all of my circuits, I used one Amazonbasics smart switch and one standard 3-way switch (I used the AmazonCommercial 3-Way Paddle switches.) No need to use 2 smart switches on each circuit. Since I was installing so many, I thought I would save a few bucks and buy some of the 3-way smart dimmers from Amazon Warehouse. DON'T DO THIS!!! IT ISN'T WORTH IT!. Apparently Amazon Warehouse takes back the switches that customers can't figure out and ships them right back out without testing. This wasted SO MUCH of my time. Most of these were missing faceplates, screws, wirenuts, or all of the above. One dimmer switch would control my lights, but not connect to WiFi. A second dimmer switch would talk to WiFi/Alexa, but not send power to the load (light). A third box contained a single pole switch, even though I had paid for a 3-way and the box showed it was a 3-way. It was also missing everything except the switch and instruction manuals. I tried to exchange the two defective switches, but the only option I was given was to read lots of articles on how to troubleshoot! When I replace the switch with an identical one that works, and then try the defective switch in another circuit that was working, I don't need to read articles. It's a bad switch! :( For comparison, I have some Gosund smart switches that work very well also, but they require a third party app to set-up and communicate with Alexa. These Amazonbasics switches work directly with Alexa and make set-up and operation seamless. I'll use and recommend Amazonbasics to anyone using the alexa environment. Again, I am thrilled with the new Amazonbasics smart switches that I installed. They work great and I will purchase more and recommend these to everyone I talk to. I will NOT purchase these switches through AmazonWarehouse again. ... show more

  • Love it.
Style: 3-Way Dimmer
I recently purchased the Amazon Basics 3-Way Smart Dimmer Switch and I have been extremely impressed with its functionality and ease of use. As someone who has been slowly converting my home into a smart home, I have tried out various brands and products, but this switch from Amazon Basics stands out as one of the best. First and foremost, the installation process was surprisingly simple. I was worried that I would have to hire an electrician to install the switch, but with the help of the detailed instructions provided, I was able to do it myself in just a few minutes. The switch does require a neutral wire, so make sure to check your wiring before purchasing. Once installed, I was able to connect the switch to my WiFi network and link it to my Alexa device without any issues. The 2.4 Ghz WiFi connection is strong and reliable, and I haven't experienced any connectivity problems or delays in controlling the switch with my voice commands. The dimming function is one of the standout features of this switch. I love being able to adjust the brightness of my lights with just a simple voice command or through the Amazon Alexa app. It's a small but convenient feature that adds a touch of luxury to my home. Another great aspect of this switch is its sleek design. The white color blends in seamlessly with my home decor, and the compact size (2.91 x 4.65 x 1.62 inches) means it fits in standard wall box. It also has a soft LED indicator light that is not too bright or distracting. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Amazon Basics 3-Way Smart Dimmer Switch. It's a high-quality product at an affordable price point, and the fact that it's from Amazon Basics gives me peace of mind in terms of its reliability and customer service. I would highly recommend this switch to anyone looking to make their home a little smarter and more convenient. ... show more

  • Great switch, but read further.
Style: Single Pole Dimmer
I've always purchased Lutron switches.... 20 years and a few remodel homes these switches run you around $35 which is pricey.... amazons switch runs you about $20 so heres the good and bad... Lutron: After a few remodel homes, and installing these switches in my own home, lutron is amazing, its pricey but when you click the button it slowly goes from 100-0 over a period of time so it gives a nice full 100% to zero dimming that looks fantastic. I've only had 1 switch fail me over 20 years, the switch doesnt have internet access or anything so for the price to me seems expensive. Amazon: The switch works, its easy to install, you have amazon backing it up so if it fails you have that support, if you get used to amazon and install all the devices and set up groups for each room its amazing, literally i just press the blue button on my amazon remote and say "turn the lights to 20%" and it works perfect.... if amazon ceos ever read this just make the buttons turn off from 100-0 over time so it has a slow dimming effect.... looks fantastic which this is a feature lutron already has, if they did updates to the switches that did this, hands down... lutron killer for sure..... however in its current state you hit the button or "turn off the lights" and its almost instant... not fancy... but again for $20 its cheaper than lutron, it connects to internet and is smart home enabled, already its a win, however if they made this 1 little change, yea hands down amazon owns the switch business.. I wanted to post multiple videos between a lutron switch and amazons switch but they would only let me upload 1 video which i couldnt showcase so i can expand my review however lets hope amazon updates their switches. ... show more
