Top Amazon Reviews

  • Very good unit and good value
Overall: Good value; arrived in 2 days with Amazon prime; box had minimal damage; sturdy; looks good; thinking about buying another. Perfectly reasonable shelving for most household needs. It lists as supporting 500 lbs per shelf. I may be unique, as beyond my car in the garage, there are very few things in my house that are that heavy. Of those that are, I really don’t think I would be trying to put them anywhere else than on the floor - see “reasonable” above. Assembly: Actually pretty simple. You do not need 2, or even 3 people to put it together, as some reviewers have said. The first vertical requires you to prop it against a wall, but that is all. I am a male who was not blessed with any mechanical skills, but I got it together with no cursing or bashed knuckles, as others have reported. Don’t put it together at 11 o’clock at night, or the neighbors will complain - it is aluminum and the parts fall out of the box and sound like the local church bell going off. Plus, you have to tap the side braces together with a hammer - back to the church bell. It is actually designed pretty well and the parts fit. Considering I had originally planned to build wooden shelves for my garage, I would still be trying to get the wood home from the store. Instead, I am calmly drinking my tea and watching the game. The little nuts/bolts that others have complained about are indeed small and somewhat awkward to use, but in the grand scheme of life, not worth getting all bent out of shape over. It takes a second to line up the holes and a couple of tries to get the nut on. All fit. A Phillips head screwdriver works just fine with a small pair of pliers on the other side. Time: The reviewers who said it took 15 minutes, or 30 minutes to assemble, must live in the time compression zone of a black hole, as it took me 15 minutes just to unpack the parts. That does not include the 5 minutes to crawl around on the carport to find the little screws that had come loose in the box. Similarly, the folks who took several hours, must have taken a coffee break every 10 minutes to spend that much time. As noted above, my skills tend to be somewhat south of Neanderthal, yet I had it together by the time my wife came looking for me to start my next honey-do. I was impressed at how easily it came together, when compared to other “simple to assemble” products on the market. Total time of assembly for me from cutting tape on box to brewing tea - 1 hour 33 minutes and 24 seconds - I used a stopwatch, just to compare with the other reviewers (OCD). Parts: Only missing one nut/bolt, due to a hole in the zip lock bag. Happily, my neighborhood hardware store has a billion of them. All parts fit just fine, without difficulty. ... show more

  • Top notch quality
Style: Double Post
Amazon basics brand really has come a long way. I own various amazon basics items and this shelf is just top quality as the other stuff i bought. When i opened the box, i was pleasantly surprised. It looks to be made of aircraft aluminum. I have two other shelves from husky and the husky is no where close to being as nice. My only negative would be the installation instructions. However this wasnt a big deal for me since its nothing too complex that i couldnt just figure out myself. ... show more

  • straightforward build process, extremely sturdy
Style: Double Post
Building this lightweight shelving unit isn't terrible. It's straightforward and goes up quick. The rated weight limit is 4,500lbs overall. I feel like this unit can easily handle that. It includes easy to install tip protection. I have two complaints. First, installing the cross members involves using tiny nuts and bolts. Installing these is a pain. But they aren't optional because they are crucial to stability. I feel like wingnuts would be far easier. The instructions are easy for someone like me who is mechanically inclined, but they are very small printing and lacking in precise details for someone who hasn't built shelves before. And finally, I feel these are very over priced for the materials included. The right price should be around $120. And I'd buy 4 more at that price. ... show more

  • Overall I am Please
Style: Double Post
The shelves came in a flat box and part of the packaging had come apart inside the box. The packaging needs to be better designed for actually shipping by carriers who are rough on boxes. Fortunately the pieces came through without being bent. I have to say the assembly instructions booklet sucked big time. The illustrations were way too small and the illustrations were so small it was hard to figure out at times. But after I did figure it out it went together with ease. The illustration of how to put the midsection supports fit together needs to be re-illustrated. Also the midsection stack-up needs a vertical tie to strengthen the one weak part in the shelving system. The one single wall tie that is provided to secure the shelves to the wall is a joke. The shelving is designed for 5000 pounds per shelf and the tie was designed for something more like a light weight shelf set. It needs 4 wall supports and not one. Two at the top and two at the top of the mid section to strengthen the only weak place in the shelves. Now that I named what needs to be changed, I have to say the shelves are overall very well built. Very sturdy except where the top and bottom sections tie together. I made my own supports so I am good to go. I would not return the shelves if I had the chance because they are exactly what I wanted. I have to say this is a lot of shelving for the money. ... show more

  • Best metal shelf I’ve ever purchased!
Style: Double Post
This shelf is not only 5ft wide, it’s the best construction I’ve ever seen in a rack shelf. All aluminum and chrome, with support bars, it’s a very well made shelf.

  • Exactly what I needed.
Style: Double Post
I use these in my shipping container for light to medium weight storage. I originally ordered 2 of them, but was impressed enough to order a 3rd one. All arrived intact without damage - but the packaging was falling apart. They were not difficult to assemble - just a bit fiddly where the small parts are concerned. Good value for the cost. I may order more for the garage. ... show more
