  • Excellent product and value for your buck!
Color: Classic Wood 2-PK
Excellent product, fast shipping, and very well packaged. The paddles are very sturdy and very well made. The handles have a really nice grip compared to what we have seen at the local box store and the wood is smooth. I also appreciate that the edges of the paddles are very smooth, some that I've seen in stores are not. This is a great beginner set to see if you like the game (which you should because it is super fun!) but it is quality enough that you can play with this set for a long time. I contacted the seller by email with a question and received a super fast response. they also email you with an ebook that is very helpful in explaining the game, how to play, rules, etc. If I can get my husband more interested in playing pickleball regularly with me, then I will upgrade to composite paddles which I will definitely purchase from this seller. Then I will save these wood paddles for guests to use to play with us (which you will find that happens a lot, it is an addictive game and not difficult to learn). I highly recommend this product and also this seller. ... show more

  • ... just started pickle ball and wanted to get a great entry paddle to see if this sport I want ...
Color: Classic Wood 2-PK
I just started pickle ball and wanted to get a great entry paddle to see if this sport I want to pursue. I love the sport! I have played 4 times with my paddle with about 8 hours of play. I would rate these paddles a 5 star except for the hand-grip. The tape is already coming off. I am disappointed because I have played paddle and racquet sports for many years and this hasn't happened this early in the purchase. I would assume after 4-6 months for this to happen. I also did not receive the mesh bag that was mentioned I would receive in the package. Not so sad about that as I am with the grip tape. Overall, I would recommend the paddle except for the tape issue on the handle. October 10, 2017--- Update: I just want to say that I am really impressed with the customer service. They reached out to me after they had heard I had an issue with the hand grip. They wanted to fix the problem and were prompt in helping me! I was really impressed and they are also sending me the mesh bag. I feel like this company should get a 5+ star after that. Since my review, I have played a couple more times and love the paddles and balls that came with it. Great Value Overall and would recommend this to my friends and family. ... show more

  • Can’t be beat as quietest at an unbelievably reasonable price
Color: Classic Wood 2-PK
These are the quietest and I love the unique pop sound they make. They are not too heavy, but you definitely notice a difference when comparing with others. I’m always looking for a way to get more exercise, so this isn’t a showstopper for me. They are wood and rugged enough, but are more apt to get scrapes and dents if you hit the ground. A rubber trim would be great, but would add weight. For the price these are a great buy at third of the cost of the others I tried. I highly recommend them for beginners and they are good for advanced players too. For comparison, I bought and tested the Signature model and Selkirk Latitude and thoroughly reviewed many others online. These two models are good rackets with more a comfortable, cushioned grip. This could be a positive if you have large hands and are playing long games, over 30mins. I also appreciate the rubber band on top of the handle tape to minimize tape un-peeling, which is a simple, smart addition that the Amazon Aces wood model doesn’t have. Back to the other models I tested... The materials and workmanship on these rackets make for a more sturdy, longer-lasting design. They have a plastic trim, so will handle ground hits well. I’ll also researched thoroughly and found these to be among the lightest in their price range @ $40-50 per racket. Surprisingly, I also notice a hollow feel when hitting the ball, which doesn’t feel as solid and sure as the wood racket. ... show more

  • Finding a good starter set is hard, and this one fits the bill
Color: Classic Wood 2-PK
Finding a good Pickleball set can be really hard. It's hard to know if you're getting good paddles. Our family loves playing Pickleball, and we tested the Amazin' Aces against the high-end paddles we have and a entry/middle grade paddle and the results were surprising. --- Weight. Are these too heavy especially for younger players? --- The Aces weighs 10.3 ounces. You might not think 10.3 ounces is a lot, but if a paddle is too heavy, it can start to become an issue. Here's the paddle's we've tested. Here's what we experienced. As an adult, the weight was just fine, and I like my 7.5 ounce Franklin Python. The lighter you go, the more expensive the paddle (usually). The Python that I use is made from Aluminum, we also have a Franklin Viper, a carbon fiber paddle that weighs 8.2. Both cost a pretty penny $60-90. We also have a Franklin Volt which weighs 10.5 and costs about $10. A lighter paddle is important, but it's not everything. A lot has to do with how the paddle is balanced. The Aces feel great because of the longer handle. I'll post a picture with the review comparing the Franklin Volt which weighs almost the same but does not feel as great. The longer handle gives the Amazin' Aces a better feel in my hand than the $10 Franklin Volt. It just feels very well balanced when holding. We let our kids play with the pro paddles we have, and then play with the Amazin' Aces. Two of our kids actually preferred the Amazin' Aces. One of our kids like our pro one better, but that says a lot about the Amazin' Aces. The kids weren't bothered by the paddle's 10.3 ounces and had a great time playing. As I played, I thought the weight would be an issue. I'm so used to our lighter paddles, but I was totally fine with it. I have carpel tunnel, and am careful about my wrists. Will these become my paddles of choice, probably not, but they are nothing to bat an eye at and are fantastic when we take a larger group to play without hesitating to hand it over to a friend with excuses that the paddle isn't good, because it is. --- The Sound and Feel --- There's a great satisfaction when I hit the ball. Maybe I'm taking out my aggressive feelings, I don't know. :) But I love when the feel and sound when I connect with the Pickleball. I love how the Amazin' Aces connect with the ball. The knock when the ball connects with the wood just feels right, and sounds great. Now compare that to the entry-level Franklin Volt paddle which doesn't feel good when connecting with the ball. It could have to do with how the Volt isn't wrapped well at the handle. The Aces are wrapped very well, and have better padding on the handle. It could also be that the Aces slightly longer handle helps with the feel of the hit. Again, love that feel. --- Handle Grip --- The grip on the paddle's handle is very well wrapped. Even our pro paddles aren't wrapped the best. We found no issue with the top of the wrap (where we see most problems). It's tight, and well-adhered. The comfort of the grip is excellent, and the padded ridges create an even better playing experience. The wrist strap (or hanging strap) is nice, but not a must. If you've got people that tend to let go of the paddle, then it's not a pad idea. --- Any Downsides? --- There were too things that I felt could be improved. 1. I wish the edges around paddle were better sanded. They're not super ruff, but they did catch on some fabric I had in my bag making it harder to put them in my bag, and it just would feel better running my hand along the edges. It's not a big deal, and something I can fix with some very fine sandpaper, but I do wish it were already smooth. 2. The balls are good entry level balls, but they weren't super. We've got a 3-set of Franklin balls, and they fly like magic. We noticed that the Aces balls didn't fly as on target as the Franklin. I let my kids play with both brands, and they all picked the Franklins as being the better balls. That being said, the Aces are part of a kit, and at a pretty good value, so it's hard to knock them for that. For starters, the balls are not going to be a problem. Just FYI, there's no plastic guard around the edge of the paddle. Some paddles have this so if you set the paddle to stop a rolling ball, it doesn't damage the paddle. This isn't a minus, but just be aware. We tell the kids to be careful so they don't knick the paddle --- Who is this for --- I think this is for those who want to get started in Pickleball but don't want to buy a bunch of expensive equipment and find out you don't like it, but also wanting to buy something that's good. It's also great if you've already got equipment and want to have an additional set for when you have friends and family come, and you want to play with more people. I've uploaded a couple pictures to show how the handle size compares with the Franklin Volt Paddle and to show how well wrapped the handle is. Sample was provided for review. ... show more
