  • Excellent AC Unit!!!
Size: 22000 BTU Style: Electronic 230V
I'm not going to sugar coat this review. There were quite a few obstacles in Amazon getting this product to me in a timely and efficient manner (even with Prime) with all of this Coronavirus nonsense and the sheer weight of this unit. However, once that headache was resolved and after 2 weeks of waiting, I was able to get this unit installed into my RV. You might not be able to tell from the Online pictures but let me tell you - THIS UNIT IS A BIG BOY! It's also pretty heavy so I highly suggest that you have two people install it and you take time to plan out the installation. I also had an electrician come in and install a separate 230v power line just for this unit. Now on to review the unit's overall performance. It's just nothing short of fabulous! I live in the brutal Florida heat and humidity where by 11 AM it's nearing 100° real feel. They call it the combined real feel because you really feel it. This AC unit has turned my RV into a comfortable living space. I read another review that stated the unit sounds like a lawnmower when it turns on. After a month of heat induced seizures and practically melting and dying in the Florida Summer heat waiting on Amazon to deliver this AC unit to me, it could sound like the NASA Space Shuttle lifting off and I wouldn't care. In truth, however, I don't find it loud or in the slightest bit disturbing. I set it at 70° using the "ECO" mode and my entire 40' RV with 3 slideouts feels very comfortable. During the 111° Summer afternoons this unit is on more than it's off but that is why I selected a high BTU AC unit. Florida heat is just no joke! Now let's all just wait until I receive my next electric bill and hope the "ECO" mode is all it's cracked up to be. The only "complaint" that I have thus far is that I think the AC designers caught a slight case of product over-engineering when they designed the units remote control. For some reason, a micro eyeglass screwdriver is required to remove the smallest of rear screws so that the remote control battery casing can be removed to insert batteries. Now why this screw is needed when the other five TV and various perfectly functioning remotes around my RV don't require it is a question best addressed by Yoda. It's an unnecessary pain in the butt and a perfect example of product over-engineering. Someone had too much time on their hands. However, beyond this issue the AC unit is working delightfully well at combating the brutal Summer heat. And as soon as I can get the back of the remote control open I will learn just how well the remote works. ... show more

  • Cold Air Relief
Size: 12,000 BTU Style: Electronic
Bought this Amana 12k BTU window a/c to replace my extremely old, Frigidaire 18k BTU unit that finally went kaput! Absolutely love the remote and variety of settings, modes and options! Great value... cooling even better that the old unit did, and performing far more cost efficiently than the old dinosaur 🦕 ever did! ... show more

  • super cools down my whole 1st floor of my house
Size: 22000 BTU Style: Electronic 230V
I figured I better wait a while till I have had it long enough to write a review....this said I would highly recommend this air conditioner. I have had it for a year now. Used it all last summer and I covered it up for the 21-22 winter (I live in upstate NY) and have used it almost everyday this summer for it has been hot in May, June and all of July (it is the 31st of July today) I have a pretty good size house and I put it in my dining room large window. I put a fan pointing toward the living room and a fan pointing toward the kitchen about 3 feet away from the AC and it does cool my whole downstairs. I have it set for 72 and with the fans (box style) set on the lowest setting, my thermostat in my house says 69 degrees. So It is really cooling & my thermostat is over 10 feet away from AC. What more can I say ....It works great! ... show more

  • Amana doesn't lkeep cooling , starts icing up in ay ear or so
Size: 6,000 BTU Style: Electronic 115V
my latest latest review of this air conditioner: Junk doesn't last. I bought the 3 brands listed below and assessed them in the review below as Amana being the best of the three for the reasons described below, which didn't include longevity. Now that I have experience with the longevity of the 3 different brands, I can definitively say that Amana is by far the worst because the first one I bought, the Toshiba, is still blowing just as cold as it ever did and not icing up, years after I bought them. Furthermore, The Toshiba is mounted in a location that is far more hostile to it's proper operation, in a window connected to my porch with a roof over it, while these sucky Amanas are mounted in windows out in the open and consequently are surrounded by much cooler open air than the Toshiba is on the sweltering screened porch that it's hot exhaust blows into. In other words, one would expect, under such conditions for the Toshiba to wear out first and start icing up. but this Amana, bought only about a year ago long after the Toshiba, is barely blowing cold anymore and icing up all the time. The other 8k Amana, bought at the same time started icing up and not cooling well about 4 months ago. so now I need to replace both Amanas which aren't even that old and I will do so with Toshibas from Home Depot if they still have them. Old Review: This Amana is much quieter with a better display, with more robust & remote, display and seals better in the window than the other two brands I have, which are Midea and Toshiba. Midea is the worst, being the loudest with the worst display and remote and the most air leaks around it. ... show more

  • Take your chances!
Size: 12,000 BTU Style: Electronic
It works, so far. Only had it running one day after arriving the day before. Made in Indonesia and after that voyage and trucking, the packaging is inadequate. The cardboard box appeared intact with no holes punched in it. Box was wrapped with four bands of heavy plastic strapping. Upon opening the box each piece of the molded-to-item styrofoam packaging pieces was busted. No wonder as most of it was less than an inch thick. The top sheet metal case was bent down enough on the front edge that the plastic front was released from the one-way grips holding it on. That bend from impact also damaged the outer/lower edge of the cold air styrofoam duct that mates with the plastic front panel. The backside top sheet metal was buckled a bit from suffering a hit to the upper rear corner. Several spots of the front and rear "radiators" had about six square inches worth of bent over fins. ... show more
