This Alpine pump has been the most dependable pump I've had over the last twenty years. I replaced the same model after five years in a fairly harsh environment (thread algae and frogs). We bought a house with a neglected Koi pond in the backyard. We were told there were no longer fish - and the pumps and waterfalls worked but have been turned off for months while the home was vacant. Guess what? Seller lied - pumps and filter were busted. Tripped the GFCI each time they were plugged in. I bought a giant algae filled hole and I couldn't even move the water. To our surprise - there were fish. Big ones. Amazon to the rescue - they delivered this pump the next morning and it had all the correct adapters to hook up to the existing pond equipment. I plunked it in - turned it on - and we have a waterfall. It just worked. I had my doubts and didn't expect it to last more than a week with the disgustingness of the pond. This little pump kept on chugging. I priced out replacement pumps from our local pond store - then went right to Amazon and bought a second one of these for the 2nd waterfall. Both have been running 10 hours per day for the past two months. I'd call that a success. Yes I did clean up the pond - and now have these two pumps hooked up to an outdoor smart plug. I use this to filter and operate my in-ground fish pond. Quiet pump that runs from my solar system, so the pond circulation and aeration is free. Great volume of water, even pushed through a pool cannister filter. Been operating about 3 weeks. So far so good.

The media could not be loaded. I was surprised it had been 4 years since we bought the 3100 GPH version of this pump. Four years of 24/7/365 pumping after being totally clogged a few times, fall leaves. Also run dry for a night when we had a Skippy Filter leak. 4 Winters w/ a top cover of 6" of ice two years in a row... So basically it has been through a tough haul! Usually we get about 2 years from competing brands. This morning I notice a drastic flow rate reduction. Opening it up I found the intake hose tube had cracked off. So I got out my trusty battery operated hot glue gun, found a PVC fitting I had laying around and 15 minute later I was back in business. They have a great sale on the 6500 GPH pump so I just ordered one to replace this one and the auxiliary 300 pump we now use. This will almost double our current flow. ... show more
