  • There must have been some improvements in product development.
Size: 20 Quart Color: Gray
I did a ton of research on what cooler to buy for some boondock camping and bought the Alpicool C20. I got it with the understanding that I needed to use hidden menus to change the temp units from C to F and that the interior temperature would be some 6 to 10 degrees off the displayed temperature and that that would also have to be corrected from the hidden menus. Neither of those concerns were observed in my case. When I turned it on for the first time it was set to F and after a day or two of testing the interior temp seems to be accurate with the displayed temp to about 1 degree I'd have to say. I have the unit set on 35 degrees and the seems to cool to 32 or 33 on compressor runs and not kick back on until 37 or 39. I placed a fridge thermometer inside and if I open it at say 33 degrees it subjectively looks like 32 or 33 depends on how you look at it. At any rate there seems to have been some attention paid to the temp disparity from the manufacturer. The manual is HORRIBLE. There are hidden menus available and the instructions are easily found on the internet. Because I didn't realize any issues as stated above I had no reason to get into the hidden menus to tweak anything. Just plug it in and set the initial temperature. EASY! One thing I noticed that I never read about anywhere is that if you use Celsius it will display 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. If you use F however it will not display numbers which don't correspond to a Celsius number. It drove me crazy as I got it set in my mind I wanted to set the fridge to just above freezing to 34 and you can't set it to 34. -It can be set to 32 degrees because that equals 0 C -The next step is 33 degrees as 1C = 33.8 F -The next step is 35 as 2C = 35.6 C -There is no 34 F If this somehow bugs you the most accurate display of temp will be in C. I lived in Japan for about 16 years of my adult life so using C is normal to me and not a problem. Your mileage may vary. The unit is QUIET. QUIET. Also I am doing endurance testing with it hooked to a Jackery Explorer 500 portable power station. It seems to consume 10% of the power every 6 hours or so. That is AMAZING and means it will power it for just over a couple of days. Perfect for a camping weekend off grid. When I first plugged it in AC I used a power monitor with it. (Sonoff S31). With no compressor running it pulls about 2 watts. When the compressor kicks in it starts with about a 56 (53 in my pic) watt surge which settles down quickly to approximately 45 watts of power when running. That is crazy amazing and half the power of a mini fridge you'd buy for the bedroom or garage. I would say compressor runs are 3-4 minutes and maybe only happen 3 or 4 times an hour. There are a couple of things I wish it had though but I can probably overcome this with some DIY knowledge. First is it can be pushed across the floor. Not super easily but it can be pushed. I'd like to see some really grippy rubber feet so it would not move at all and I'm thinking about this for the propensity for it to bounce around in a moving camper or vehicle. Next it has handholds on both sides similar to a regular non powered cooler. It's nice and easy to carry but I wish there were some way to have some hole or flip out handles so you could use them to secure the cooler with a tie down strap. About the only way to secure it for transport would be to put a strap around it. Again a DIY solution awaits but having the ability to easily secure it would be great. ... show more

  • Fast, Quiet, and Low Power - REAL DATA
Size: 20 Quart Color: Gray
The media could not be loaded. Will it run off a battery?!?! Yes! Read on… I bought the alpicool C20 to cool food during an upcoming hiking trip. The cooler will be plugged into the car on the way, running off a Jackery Explorer 280 while we are at camp, and plugged in on the way home. Thoughts after unboxing? So far, so good… as soon as I got the cooler out of the box, I plugged it into a power meter added 10 pounds of honey as a load, and added a couple temperature probes (one for the honey, one for the internal air temperature). The honey and the cooler both started at 74°. The internal air temperature was below 40° within 10 to 15 minutes. The Honey took most of the overnight to get below 40° which is expected as this would be the same for any refrigerator. The cooler takes about 45 watts when it is cooling and running the compressor. It takes less than 2 watts when the compressor is not running. I ran the cooler for 15 hours overnight with the set up mentioned above and it used about 230Wh of power. That’s an average of about 15 watts. I was running the cooler inside a room at 72°. Based on the average power the cooler will probably use around 300Wh in 24 hours. For a hot day I am guessing that would be closer to 600Wh. Taking into account the C20 is also an insulated cooler rated for 10 hours, I think a Jackery Explorer 280 or similar 300Wh battery pack will be just enough to squeeze out keeping things cool for 36 hours. I would recommend add solar to top off the battery or going with 600Wh to be safe. ... show more

  • My awesome frig
Size: 20 Quart Color: Gray
Alittle smaller then it looked but works great and doesn't drain my power station. I so love this frig.
Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2023 by I would never recommend this site to any of my friends or family. I have 2 orders that never showed up. And 1 order that was damaged when I got it. And can't get a refund or get you to replace the damaged item. So I think I am done ordering from here and a order went out I didn't order.

  • Works great!
Size: 20 Quart Color: Gray
I have histamine intolerance so when I travel for work I bring my own food, kept frozen. This has made it easy for me to eat on the road and not worry about having a reaction from unknown ingredients.

  • 5 YEARS 24/7 and Still GOOD. SERVICE VAN.
Size: 20 Quart Color: Gray
I've had my APLICOOL SINCE 2018 AND IT IS 2023 SUMMER AND ITS BEEN GREAT. I RUN IT IN MY SERVICE CAN 24/7. EVEN IN WINTER. IT KEEPS DRINKS COLD ALL SUMMER WHEN THE INSIDE OF THE VAN IS 105 °F. IT USES ABOUT 45WATTS WHEN THE COMPRESSOR IS OPERATING. I HAVE A VICTRON BATTERY MONITOR. AND 2 WATTS WHEN STANDBY. IT IS VERY EFFICIENT. I HAVE 2 6 VOLT GOLF CART DEEP CYCLES BUT I WOULD NOT B SCARED TO USE IT IN MY REGULAR VEHICLE AND MAYBE JUST CARRY MY JUMP PACK INCASE. BUT I DONT THINK IT WOULD KILL A SOLID TRUCK BATTERY OVER NITE. It does have low voltage shut down. I'd use the highest voltage setting if it was on my starter battery. If the cars being driven or idled your alt will put the battery back to full very fast. I'd just start the car for a half hr in the am when I wake up if camping. I WOULD BUY ANOTHER IF THIS ONE BREAKS LIKE IMMEDIATLY. Love ❤️ this thing. And people think it's so Cool! CONS. Mine is a 2018 and it has the hidden menu which allows u to adjust the temp to °F from. °c. Also to adjust temperature readout as it is not perfect. It is off by 10 degrees. I did get mine zeroed in. Just put a temp probe inside and find out what it should b reading and use the hidden menu to adjust. The hidden menu settings r avail online just Google search and u will find. I have had about 2 times a yr when it seems to run all nite and not shut off. I had to unplug it and replug power to get it to reset. Must b a software or thermostat issue. It's very rare but I have found it like this prob 2 times each summer. Over all I have been very happy wirh this unit and for a reasonable cost $200. Vs a domestic that costs $500 or more. Capacity. 20 lites. This is alot of pop cans easily a case of pop. I can also stand up a half gallon of milk and shut the lid! This lid is on top which is how. It should b to not dump put cold air when opened. I use. Mine. As a fridge not freezer. ... show more
