  • A Guilty Pleasure
Size: Round Color: White
I have been exposed to bidets over the years when traveling abroad. They were the old school type, as in a hot and cold faucet with a fountain you hovered over. Honestly, it seemed to be more trouble than they were worth. Then…..I was scheduled for a lumbar fusion surgery. My retired doctor brother-in-law had the same surgery, which went well and fixed his issues….except for one thing. He now has a problem twisting around on throne after doing his business. Fearing being stuck in the same precarious position I was determined to not have to do contort myself after my “morning constitutional”. After doing copious research, I found my answer in the Alpha Bidet. The unit itself is easy to install using the included instructions. I got it done in 15 minutes. After charging the water line to make sure there were no leaks, I plugged it in and fired it up. I do not have an electrical outlet right next to the toilet, so I ran an extension cord from the GFCI outlet next to my sink. The bidet itself requires a minimum 15 amp circuit. I made sure to get a beefy grounded 15 amp cord Amazon was kind enough to tell me other customers bought when purchasing the bidet. I installed cable channeling to hide the cord running down the wall, then attached the cord to the underside of my bathroom cabinet. It looks decent, but I will likely install a plug next to the toilet later. Anyhoo….on to what it is like to use our new “throne”. First off, it has a heated seat…something we greatly appreciate here in the damp and chilly PacNW. As your tushy contacts the toasty seat, the bidet begins to circulate water. I assume it is filling a reservoir to heat its contents. The noise will cease as you do your business. The next step is to activate the wash cycle. I will stick to the “rear wash” cycle in this review. The remote has a wash and dry preset. I found that to be unbearably long, so I control the was and dry myself using the separate buttons. One push of the rear wash button produces a stationary stream. You can move that stream using a forward/rear button. It works pretty good, but a second push of the rear wash button is “money”. The water stream begins to move forward and back in a “scrubbing” motion. The forward/rear button will allow you to adjust the stream to wherever you want it, allowing you to clean a larger area. The first couple of times I used the bidet I flushed prior to using it so I could see what it was washing off of my bum. Without getting too descriptive, it definitely does a good job of power washing. BTW….Water temp is adjustable to your personal preferences. After you turn off the wash function, hit the air dry. I found it works pretty well, but you will likely want to use a square of toilet paper to finish the drying cycle. When you do this you see how well this unit works. You will see that one square of TP was only needed for drying, because after wiping there is no “residue” on the paper. I am expecting our huge supply of Costco TP to last forever and I am not sure what I am going to do with all our flushable wipes! Really, all this thing is missing is a fragrance dispenser to freshen the room as you leave. We simply love the Alpha Bidet. It is a great all around experience for you derrière, it will cut your TP/Wipe use by 80% and it will likely help you avoid plumbing issues. I have a friend who owns a Roto Rooter franchise and he says he LOVES flushable wipes because they do in fact cause plumbing problems. Give your hind end a treat….buy yourself an Alpha Bidet. ... show more

  • Our first bidet.
Size: Elongated Color: White
This is a wonderful product. It arrived on time. The instructions, for those who read them, were excellent. It was a snap to install, although I added an outlet for the bidet. It has every bell and whistle you could desire. Makes going to the bathroom fun! Highly recommend this bidet. We have the elongated and love the remote for one button use.Water always starts out warm and air dry works well. The underseat night light provides guidance at night and my wife loves the heated seat. Self cleaning nozzle and although I haven't used the preclean bowl spray yet, the idea is good. Seat can be adjusted and once in place, does not move around. A little pricey, but top rated and worth the cost! ... show more

  • Not Perfect, But Pretty Darn Good
Size: Round Color: White
This is my 1st bidet seat and, really, my 1st bidet experience. Conclusion: where’ve you been all my life? I did my research and determined that the JX2 was the one to try. I’ve been using it for a solid 6 months now, and I’ve gotten quite used to it. I’m disappointed if I have to use the other bathroom now. The JX2 was part of a comprehensive bathroom renovation. My fist mistake was going with a round instead of elongated commode bowl. There are a few reasons for this, but suffice it to say, I definitely recommend the elongated over the round, if you have the choice. The beeping: yes, there is a faint “beep” when I sit down (and, I think, also when I stand up.) This can be turned off by plugging in the JX2 while depressing a button on the seat. I’ve found that the house power invariably gets interrupted within days of me doing this, though, and when it comes back on, the seat defaults to beeping again. So, I’ve just gotten used to the beeping. This one’s not that loud. (But it’s still dumb that it beeps. Who needs a toilet seat that beeps? Everything beeps these days. It’s maddening.) The bidet-ing itself is pleasant and effective overall. Sometimes I run concurrent cycles, just to be sure. I recommend pressing the bidet button twice, which gets the wand to do a slight, back-and-forth, scrubbing motion. It was interesting to me to experience changing the water temperature on-the-fly. You push the temp button and that water temperature instantly changes. Speaking of, Alpha should be able to figure out a way to have the initial blast of water be as warm as the rest of it, because it ain’t. It is ALWAYS frigid-cold, just for a second, long enough to make me make a face, and then it’s pleasant. One thing I have noticed recently, temperature-wise, is that the water isn’t always as warm as it was. Maybe my wife is fidgeting with the temp control (which I doubt because she likes everything hotter than I like it), or maybe it’s because the incoming water is much colder than it was in the summer and fall. Regardless, I’ve had some cooler than expected bidets this winter. My wife has complained that, although the wand’s position can be adjusted, she still can’t get it to move far enough forward to be useful in the female application. I have had the same issue at the opposite end. When I’m ready to bidet, even after I draw the wand back as far as it will go, I still have to scoot a little “too” forward on the seat to feel optimally situated. Here is where the elongated bowl and seat (as opposed to the round) could have solved a lot. The drying feature could get warmer faster, which I think would help it not to take so long. I don’t feel the warmth (which could be warmer) until it’s at least a third of the way into its cycle, maybe half way. Before that, it’s just like a cool breeze. It gets high marks for aim though, good aim, just slow to dry. My wife likes the heated seat function, though I could do without it. We both like the night-light feature. I don’t even have to turn the bathroom light on in the middle of the night anymore. I can see everything I need to see. If I was to suggest anything to Alpha, like if they asked me, I’d maybe recommend a model with a throttle on the side, like driving a boat, something you could pull back on to crank up the water pressure. I’d buy that (and maybe a Captain’s hat to wear with it). ... show more

  • Not the same with our it!
Size: Elongated Color: White
Tested over 2 month time. I must say it gets the job done right! It's a bit on the pricey side and the blow dry feature doesn't really "dry". However it does a fantastic job cleaning and adjustments are easy with remote. Heating is nice too! Feels a bit on the larger size but over time you get used to it. Install was a breeze and no leaks at all(I'm a plumber so it's no issue to fix if it did. Save $$$ on the toilet paper too! ... show more
