I guess I must have been using the original Firestick. It was pretty slow loading the aps and started not responding at all when I would push the buttons on the remote. It also had some challenges loading the Paramount Plus ap. I would have to try it 3 times to get it to load. The Disney Plus ap also had issues and would totally lock up after a commercial would run. Audio would drop out completely sometimes as well I decided to try this one. I have to say that it works quite a bit better. It is pretty fast when I select something. The audio has stopped dropping and actually sounds a lot better. No issues with the Paramount or Disney ap either. I guess I also have a slightly better picture too. I bought this hoping it would perform in my 10 year old not so smart TV. It works perfectly. Every app I ned is either installed or downloadable. Set-up was intuitive and fast. The remote is the best part. It's compact and doesn't have 100 buttons. It's very simple to operate.

The new version Firestick is a vast improvement from the ground up. From the remote, double the memory and faster performance. Still is not a replacement for the Nvidia Shield but as an alternative this is it!

    • Nice upgrade from old fire stick!
Configuration: Fire TV Stick 4K Max
This was a replacement from our older fire stick that stopped working. We upgraded to the max and haven't been disappointed. We picked it up on a really good deal for only $35 for the max, so if you're looking for one or a replacement wait for a sale. The initial set up went really fast. Once plugged in it connected to the system through other amazon devices and automatically picked up the router and setting. It even was able to do a backup of the old non-working amazon stick. This remote is a bit larger than the original one we had but has additional buttons and functions. This has quick keys to get you to frequently used apps like Disney and Netflix. This also has the voice feature. Storage on my old stick was so small we had to constantly delete apps to get new ones, once everything was backed up from my old fire stick, this once still had 3/4 of space still.     • Great for old TVs and outdated Smart TVs

With the firestick 4k max there is no miss, the price is right (holiday), the performance is what is needed, Netflix and prime work ok, this version with the programable remote made my old remote to be almost retired, the only button that I would love to have in this device to stop using my OEM remote is the "Input" so I can switch in between cable and the firestick (HDMI ports) for now I have the OEM for that button only, maybe in the future they can have an app with a programable button or something, that will be sweet. The Performance is great. For the first time setup, I would recommend that you go through all the updates at once until there is none pending, so no bugs may be seen, one feature that was amazing is to clone one of your old devices config during the first time setup, I retired my firestick 1st gen as it was sluggish and i got my config back and effort was almost none, apps were installed like it was before. As many other users, I would love if this thing has a browser that works (Opera, firefox, chrome, edge any that works ok) and the option to install the Google Playstore but that is something amazon don't like so if you would like to have this then you will need to find out how to. Game controllers work ok via Bluetooth and the device runs cool. I will buy another one in my next purchase to start upgrading my 2nd gens that it seem that they started to go slow and overheating.
