  • Nice 'not the average looking' rain barrel!!
We have only had this product about one week, but perfect so far! Unfortunately, we are in a drought being in California, and our water is SUPER expensive. We had been hauling all of our household water that we could, out to water our few plants....now just putting in this. The spout is very high would be good for a large amount of water. We attached a 6' hose to the back drain, and hung it with the hook it came with. We are filling watering cans with this. We put a lovely planter in the front and have had no problem keeping the water we dump in the back drain area...AND this looks so much nicer than a rain barrel! Check the measurements we did not pay much attention, but it is VERY large! Smaller would be better for our purposes, but it looks good and matches the minimal landscape we have! No CONS after a weeks use. ... show more

  • Good water collection set that can be used with a diverter
Color: Brown With Black (Brownstone 2 Pack)
Very happy with this water collection barrel set. In the photo you see a ‘proof of concept’ temporary setup for one of the barrels. I still need to build a permanent base so that the collection barrel stays level. I am using it in conjunction with a diverter that has a leaf guard and a very simple shut off valve (for that, I had to cut off the gutter section above the barrel inflow so that the rainwater flows down. I also chose to cut one of the diverter pipes to use as an inflow instead of collecting water by positioning the barrel directly under the downspout) It comes with hardware INSIDE the barrel so you have to use a screwdriver to remove the little plastic grate on top to get to it. I recommend using a vacuum or a shop vac to clean out the interior of the barrel before reattaching the grate (it comes with a lot of plastic shavings that can clog your spigot if you leave the shavings be) ... show more

  • The overflow tubes have to be cut open if you want it to overflow
I am glad I finally got the two I ordered in April ( delivered in middle of June). I agree with other reveiwers that the faucet is way too high up. Mine are in the middle, not even as low as the picture. There were no directions for people like me who was sure that the faucet should go on the bottom opening where all the water would drain out....it doesn't. Also the two overflow drains have no openings so I guess I have to cut them somehow if I want the overflow to actually drain. There was some kind of hook in the bag and I haven't a clue as to what that is supposed to be used for. It would also be a good idea if they put a few holes in the planter section since I can see any plants in there drowning in 3 inches of water. They do look good enough for the front yard in amidst the shrubbery. Update: When I went to put the second barrel together I found that it had a plastic spigot instead of brass. The male connector on the bottom drain broke off before it was even tightened. See photo. As For the first barrel, I put it out to collect rain ....on the ground. Now I have 25-30 gal of rain water and can't get it out because main spigot is in the middle of barrel and the lower drain on bottom is too difficult to get to. This is not a well designed barrel. ... show more

  • NO! Back blew out. Has a pot belly. Failure seems imminent. NO way to contact seller or return.
Color: Brownstone
Installed & full now. I see no "Contact Seller" option and CAN NOT RETURN, so here's a review instead. No. It blew out. I'll post photos when possible but basically the mold has an indentation at the back, at the bottom of which is the lower spigot. With water in it, the barrel expanded, blew out, is distended, has a terrible pot belly. Obviously the pressure of water is constant, so there's no excuse except that it's not strong enough. Boo. Also & FYI, on receipt this is labeled as an 80-gallon barrel (when we purchased it and as of this review, the title still says 50-gallon). The dimensions are (24X24X34H). It STILL DOESN'T HOLD ITS SHAPE AND IS NOT WORTH $20, let alone $120 WITH NO FEEDBACK CHANNEL NOR RETURNS!!!! ... show more

  • LOVE these rain barrels!
Color: Textured Terra Cotta
I now have 6 of these and may buy a few more to gang together under the heaviest-running scuppers. We've collected 1,600 gal just this year and now have a 2,500 gal holding tank that we drain these into to keep these empty and ready to collect the precious little rainfall that we get in Arizona. My husband bought a pump that works with regular hoses so we can send what we catch in the rain barrels to the larger holding tank. It looks like we'll be able to meet all our garden water needs just with captured rain -- important in this arid region that's also in a severe drought. The reviewer(s) who have noted the crummy plastic fittings are right -- you should replace these with metal ones but this is inexpensive and easy and worth the time and trouble. Also, we drilled a few holes in the basin that is made for potting plants and instead of planting anything there, we use the basin as an extra catch; it may hold several gallons and expands your collection area -- important during our few but heavy rains. We're in AZ, have a stucco home with a flat roof. The color of these works well with our house and surroundings and is way more attractive than most other alternatives (think big blue barrels) -- and more expensive -- but avoiding the eyesore is worth it. Our plants LOVE the rainwater so much more more than the municipal stuff. There is an immediate, fantastic response to being watered with rainwater. Looking forward to the monsoons this summer! ... show more
