I bought this to cover a 5 gallon bucket I use to collect rain water. The drawstring is not tight enough so I used a piece of black elastic cord I had on hand for sewing face masks (also bought here on Amazon, "Elastic Bands for Sewing 1/8 Inch 10 Yards Black Elastic String Cord Bands Rope for Sewing Crafts DIY (1/8 inch 10 Yards Black), by Bodrum Wooden") and tied it around the lip of the bucket. I cut the mesh down to size to fit the bucket and just tied the elastic cord around it and it works perfectly. I bought these on a whim expecting them to be flimsy and to our surprise they surpass our expectations. So easy to use and catches all the debris filtering out leaves and blooms. They also prevent mosquitos from nesting in the water. For the money I think it's a good deal as you get 3 per package. simple solution to a annoying problem. fits any size barrel cuz it has a tightening string that keeps it taut. sturdy. seems like you could wash on gentle and hang dry when it gets really funky, but i’ve had them on all six of our barrels for about a month and still fine.

The mesh used for these covers is very dense, so I am not sure how easily water will flow through it. Also, clap on the cord that holds the draw string tight doesn’t hold very well. Other than that, I am confident that these will keep mosquitoes out of my rain barrels.
