I had purchased the four shelf unit, plus the set of shelves and a extra set of legs for what my husband calls the "fiber arts studio" in our new home. I was not sure when I was setting up the space exactly what I was going to need, so I figured I might as well have more than less. I set up the four shelf unit, placing the bottom shelf high enough to place spare sewing machines and storage totes underneath. The poles are notched in one inch increments allowing for you to design the shelf placement to your exact needs. The set of two shelves plus the set of legs provided another unit. The system is sturdy enough to allow the bottom shelf to be placed 12" from the floor. The shelves DO come with the clamps for the poles to position the shelves. I had not seen this in the original description and ordered an additional set. I decided it was not worth the postage to send them back. ... show more

I build a black rack in my office with these to hold printers, charging station, etc. My 6 year-old grand-daughter saw it for the first time and said, "Cool!". How often does that happen? My rack is 6 feet tall, so I attached it to the wall to prevent a tip-over accident as WE ALL should do with any tall piece of furniture. The plastic sleeves that set the shelf height are easy to work with. I had to make adjustments after it was assembled and it fairly straight-forward. I strongly recommend the shelf liners to keep small items from falling through the gaps between the wires. ... show more

Purchased these to add a 6th shelf to two other shelving units of the same size, match is nearly perfect. The only thing that doesn't match the original pieces of the unit is the center support bar; however I noticed that prior to purchasing, so I didn't care and planned for it. The existing units were purchased from another, heavy duty, manufacturer. (Don't ask me the name, I don't remember and don't care to hunt around for it.)
