As for safety/is it trustworthy? I can safely say that I've fallen where my head has made contact with either the packed snow of a ramp or even a box itself where it definitely would've hurt and the helmet without a doubt protected me. No concussions, no injuries. I just got back up and got back to boarding. Safe to say I trust this helmet from prior experience with protecting my noggin and yours. It has a dial on the back of the so you can adjust how tightly the inside of the helmet wraps around your head. Simple feature, but it's reliable and I like it. There are ear muffs that cover your entire ear and more and fit comfortably on it. There's never really a time where I need to air my ears out from the contact between the muffs and my ears heating up. I will say that if you're an earphone user, it may be uncomfortable. I have not tried it with AirPods but I feel like those may work the best due to the minimal space the AirPods take up. Essentially, the earphones you'd wear would be sandwiched up by the muffs covering your ear. I have a pair of ear phones that have the interchangeable plastic tips that I tried using. Wearing that and the helmet combined felt like they were forcefully being jammed into my ear. There's also a strap located on the back of the helmet that allows you to clip in the strap of your goggles with ease. Just wrap the goggle strap around back, clip it in and it stays securely with and easily. Chin straps are large enough to adjust it. I've worn it with a face mask and it doesn't feel like you get choked by it but the helmet continues to feel secure and snug. My only other con is that the helmet is a bit on the larger side. The fit is perfect, but it does look a bit bulkier than other helmets I've seen. But if you throw on some googles and a face mask, it's not really much of a concern as it does the job of protecting me and I'm still able to have a good time. Even with that, I still highly recommend the helmet because of the safety, comfort and small features Akaso has to offer. If you are having doubts about buying an Amazon helmet: STOP. This piece of headwear saved my brain once or twice. I took a nasty spill after catching an edge doing a heelside turn. I landed square on my butt, and my head whipped back and smacked the icy snowpack. I got up after that, and knew that this helmet was a purchase I did not regret. I'm definitely gonna buy a replacement helmet (as you're supposed to once the helmet takes a reaaallllyy hard hit.) ... show more

This turned out to be a great helmet, especially considering the price. It's very light and comfortable. The vents open and close smoothly and easily. When open, the helmet is well vented. The adjustment wheel is smooth, solid, and has been very reliable (after a minor adjustment on day 1). The helmet fits around my goggles perfectly and my goggles stay in place thanks to the goggle loop and channel made for the strap. Unlike my other helmet, this one has enough smooth areas to accommodate the Go Pro adhesive mount (and stickers from my favorite ski area) but still enough variation to be interesting. As an added bonus, I haven't had a concussion yet so the most important feature is working for me so far. There were a few very minor issues from the factory that I corrected in just a few minutes. The adjustment wheel initially slipped a little allowing the helmet to loosen. I tightened the screw on the inside of the wheel and it hasn't slipped since. The other issue was with the removable ear pads. One was a bit too "removable" and would sometimes become dislodged when removing the helmet. I shimmed it for a while but eventually just glued it in. (I don't plan to remove them anyway.) These minor issues were really no big deal to me, especially considering the price. I would definitely buy another one. Due to the minor adjustments it needed, I would normally not give a product five stars. However, when I consider the exceptional value of this helmet and the qualities Akaso was able to work in while keeping the helmet affordable, it deserves more than four. Since I can't give it a 4.8, I'm giving 5 stars on this one. ... show more

Ordered this helmet my friend recommended since it looked legit and was ASTM certified - which came in handy, as it protected me during a nasty fall into a tree! Design-wise it has the usual features you'd need (neck and goggle straps, size adjuster, vent) - I will say after a very long day the earmuffs squish your ears a little, but otherwise it's quite comfortable. I haven't tried removing the earmuffs or liner - the former is tough, and the latter may result in the Velcro scratching your head. A visor on the helmet might be appreciated. This is the first time I use a ski helmet. I thought it might feel uncomfortable or heavy but after three days of skiing, I have no complaints. Here are my observations: * It is comfortable. My wife and I decided to start wearing helmets. We went through three different brands and both of us found this one the most comfortable. I am not sure if it is the padding or the shape. I'd guess that there may be some difference in the shape between different brands and would recommend customers to try several brands before committing. * The ear pads kept my ears warm. I really need that. It is not as warm as my wool hat but 85% there - good enough. * The air vents on top can be closed if desired. I didn't look for this feature (probably because of no experience with helmets) but it came handy. After some time I felt cold at the top of my head. Closing the vents made a difference. My wife liked the helmet as well. Our daughter, who has a different brand helmet, said that the Akaso is more comfortable. I don't have experience outside of this price range but I find this helmet an excellent choice for the money. Overall, the helmet is comfortable, warm, and allows to open and close the air vents as desired. I am very satisfied and would recommend it. ... show more
