  • Absolutely necessary if you live in an area with high humidity
We learned about the concept of a dehumidifier rather late and are blown away with what a difference it has made inside the house as we go through the Texas summer. The A/C system already has an embedded dehumidifier, but it can only do so much, and this tool helps the A/C and lighten its load. It fills the bucket in one day and brings the house from a 65%average to a 50% in one day. It makes a sound and stops working once the bucket is full. It can also work continuously with a hose directed to a sink or washer outlet, but we use the bucket system. We set it at auto to keep it at %50 and it works when needed. It is not too loud when it is on and one can still watch TV or have a conversation nearby. While sleeping, it provides great white noise! We use a water leak detector nearby just in case. The customer service is top notch and has answered our questions promptly within 24 hours. We have been using it for more than a year now and can’t be happier! Highly recommended! ... show more

  • UPDATED REVIEW. NOT SO HAPPY.
UPDATE: You can read below that I was very happy with my purchase..UNTIL...it wasn't so great afterall. Bottom line, I had read about people saying their units didn't work but the company sent them a new one. WELL, they weren't so willing to work with me. I only had the unita for 2 days and found one unit worked while the other didn't. I couldn't figure out why the system wouldn't allow me to ask for a replacement --it only allowed for a return so I thought fine, I'll just write a note advising that I don't want a refund and to just send me the replacement. Guess what? Within just 2 or 3 days they had jacked up the price over $50.00 and wanted me to pay the NEW price. Of course I politely explained it wasn't my fault it didn't work and they politely told me tough luck and they would deduct $20 from the NEW more expensive price...and when I advised I didn't agree with this they told me they LOST MONEY so they raised the price. Well, uh ...I'd anyone believes ANY company is going to sell things to LOSE money, they'd be a fool. SMH. So the moral of the story is don't buy something from a company who doesn't treat you fairly... unless of course you don't mind being taken advantage of. I'm ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE and it is infuriating when companies don't care anymore. Substandard!! Purchased 2 units: one for upstairs & one for downstairs; One unit seems to have something wrong with it but I'm sure the seller will make it right so I don't want to give them bad marks. The unit that works is amazing! We live in South Florida where it's humid ALL of the time! I would not have even thought about a dehumidifier until a friend told us how well it worked for his home so gave it a try...and it does! The first night water filled up the pan and it truly made our downstairs cooler! It really did make the air feel fresher--that's the best way I can describe it. I don't know if it will make a difference in our expensive utility bill--but I will access it over the next couple of months and update. Even it doesn't, however, it DOES take out the humidity in the air. I will also update the customer service aspect regarding the non-working unit. Stay tuned, folks. :) ... show more

  • Poor Design Features
UPDATE/EDIT 9/2023; After just 14 months we replaced this unit with a GE 50 pint unit, this one was just not able to maintain the humidity levels below 50%. It never shut off because it was ineffective at removing moisture. The new GE unit easily pulls our humidity down to 40-45% throughout the house and does not run continuously to do that. Do NOT recommend. Okay, where to begin with this thing? First off, you need to know that there are 2 major types of dehumidifiers and they work differently. This one is a Peltier type dehumidifier as opposed to the more common compressor type. The way they operate is different but the major takeaways are that Peltier types (this one) will be quieter but remove less water from the air while compressor types are significantly louder but can remove much more water from the air in less time. Depends on your particular situation. I live in the relatively humid area of Southern Pennsylvania. I have a very old compressor type dehumidifier in the basement and I have this unit on the first floor. The basement can get pretty damp, the compressor type can easily hold the basement at 45% without cycling on too often. This Peltier type on the first floor runs continuously and never drops the humidity below 45%, even with it set at 40%. Now, as to the design. This unit draws air in from the BACK of the unit, which in my opinion is backwards. This design makes it necessary to place the unit well away from the wall - and who wants to have a dehumidifier sticking out in the middle of the room? And yes, placement of this unit matters. A lot. The direction from which it draws air matters. A lot. Seriously, if you buy this unit and find it not working as well as you expect just move it. Secondly, the water reservoir (bucket) removes from the BACK as well. Again, why? The makes it necessary to turn the unit around to access the bucket to empty (unless you're using the hose). Not the greatest design. The exhaust from this unit blows out of the top, but not straight up. It blows out at some sort of angle. Now compare this to other dehumidifiers, such as my compressor type which pulls air in from the front, the bucket accesses from the front and the exhaust blows straight up. This "good" design allows you to place the unit close to the wall and does not require you to turn the thing around to empty the bucket. Noise? This unit is NOT quiet. You will know it is running and as I said earlier, it seldom stops running. It is however easily twice as quiet as any compressor type unit. Those are just loud! Other comparisons; compressor type units will exhaust warm/hot air. It is just how they work. Peltier units like this one only exhaust cool air. For me this is a huge advantage for use in the living space. What else? The filter screen, again accessed from the back of the unit, is easily removed and cleaned. I just rinse it off in the sink under running water then pat-dry it with a paper towel. Emptying the bucket is not difficult but could be made easier if a handle had been incorporated into the design. It has a lid of sorts that must be removed before emptying and you have to lift the bucket from the bottom. No huge deal, just not as convenient as it could be. I have not used this with the direct-drain hose setup but I can tell you that the included hose is junk and you will be better served by buying something better. The unit will shut off when the bucket is full and sounds a very unobtrusive beep when that happens. It will not beep continuously, just a few seconds. The controls are intuitive and easy to figure out. The unit looks nice for what it is. So, bottom line; Compressor type dehumidifiers remove more water from the air, are louder and exhaust warm/hot air but most are of a more user friendly design. This unit is effective at removing water from air, is much quieter than the other type and only exhausts cool air. The design is rather poor and not user friendly. I do not regret buying this unit because for me, in my particular situation, it does what I need it to do - although barely. ... show more

  • Best dehumidifier ever
This dehumidifier is the best one we have ever used and the only one we will ever use in the future. The set up is so user friendly. We have a 3,000 foot enclosed crawl space with two heat pump air handlers. This humidifier holds and maintains the humidity with precision. The customer service is second to none. Any questions or issues are handled so professionally and in an extremely quick timeframe. A Five star review does not do this product justice! ... show more
