I purchased the comforter for my daughter and she loves it. The weight is perfect and the fluffiness made her use it every night. I ordered it a size larger because she like larger comforter and like how it looks draped over her bed. My daughter said it’s so snuggly and breathable; unlike other comforter that gets too hot at night and ends up being kicked off. Originally, I bought this feather down comforter to use as a second blanket. (Hint: I was wrong about that.) I needed a little extra warmth in the Winter, on top of my regular everyday comforter. The blankets we had last year didn't work out. They were electric. The new puppy would jump on the bed during the day. He didn't like the feel of the wires. So he chewed them up. Fortunately, we never plugged those blankets in, so no harm done to the puppy. Now he is full grown, and he still chews things up. I thought this comforter would be good, because it has loops that allow this to be put inside a duvet. I thought the feather comforter would be targeted by the dog for chewing, so I wanted to protect it, by covering it with a duvet. I've had a feather comforter before. My old one was delicate, lightweight and fluffy. The fabric covering was pretty (silky) but very weak. It only added a little bit more warmth, so we used it in the Summer-time. This AIRLUCK comforter is DIFFERENT! It is THICK, and HEAVY, and VERY WARM. I was amazed when I took it out of the box. It felt like a weighted blanket to me. Now I'm wondering if adding a duvet would make it TOO warm. I still need a duvet to protect it from getting dirty by my dogs. So I will put away my old comforter and use this feather comforter and the duvet by themselves. They will be warm enough this winter. Instead of being a second blanket, these will be my only blanket. I won't need a second one. This feather comforter is built nicely, such that you can use it by itself. You do not have to add a duvet if you don't need one. The loops for the duvet are small and discrete. You wouldn't notice they were there, unless you were looking for them. So go ahead and use this comforter as your only blanket. You will be happy with the warmth and satisfied with the clean white fabric. It is not too delicate for people. (My life is different because my 100 pound dogs have thick strong toenails that leave holes in things. I need the duvet to protect the comforter, but most normal households do not.) The feathers are compressed when you first take it out of the box. They will slowly fluff up as you move it around, over time. Give it a few days. You can try fluffing it by hand, like you would fluff a pillow. QUALITY: + I already told you how thick and warm this is. (I can't believe all that weight comes from feathers. It is very densely packed. Amazing!) + The edge around the outside is double stitched. This gives the outside edge twice the strength of single stitched blankets. (Look at the close-ups of the edges in my photos.) + The center part of the blanket is quilted with single stitching. Single stitching is strong enough here, because the center is not pulled upon. The squares of the quilting are the right size to hold the feathers in place. You need the quilting, so all the feathers don't fall to one side or the other. The quilting keeps the feathers evenly distributed, spread out over the entire surface of the conforter. + There are 8 loops that attach this, as an insert, to a duvet. There is a loop in all four corners, and there are additional loops in the center of each side. Not all inserts have 8 loops. 8 loops are a sign of quality. The manufacturer wanted you to be satisfied, that the comforter was well attached to the duvet on all 4 sides, as well as the corners. The loops are attached to the comforter by the double stitching that goes around the outside edge. They need to be double stitched. Anything less would not do. If used with a duvet, the loops will get pulled upon all the time, everytime that you move this. If you are using this with a duvet, these loops should be checked every year, to see if they are starting to rip the stitching. It will usually start to rip just one row of stitching at a time. (That is why you need the double stitching.) If you see the stitching coming undone, sew it back up, before the second row of stitching starts to break. You want to sew it back up, before the loop comes out. This comforter should give you many years of use. + This comforter comes with it's own storage bag. That is great for people like me, who only use it in the Winter. I can store it in it's bag, in the linen closet, during the Summer. The zipper on the bag opens on three sides. This comforter is so thick, you will need to jam it in, just like you jam your fluffy sweaters into a suitcase. Once inside the case, the air will get pushed out of the comforter, and the comforter will be a nice compact size again. Then it will fit perfectly inside a linen closet. Those lofted up nicely once unpacked and the material is smooth to the touch, dense enough to ensure no poke through! Everything about this down comforter says quality! The color is a pleasing off-white, very natural. It lays smoothly, no bunching up, yet with inviting uniform discrert hills and valleys. The seams are reinforced yet hidden or turned beautifully. And the feel against the skin is ...comforting! A very polished softness. I've used this when it's been 78 in the house (don't judge, I need a blanket for comforting) and when it's 58 and I'm the perfect temperature underneath and no, I can't explain it! I just embrace and love it! It fit in my duvet cover perfectly, smoothly, after I caught my cat lovingly making biscuits on it and I'm too lazy to take it out again to take photos for you. For me, nothing beats a quality down comforter: they’re super soft and light, but really hold in the heat during cold nights and breath on the warm ones. We’ve been using this one for over a month now and have had multiple nights in the 40s and plenty in the 70s. We’ve slept like babies every night since we started using it. to me it feels starchy makes alot of noise when pulling on it or when i am tossing and turning, My wife loves it she gets very cold at nights where as i get very hot and she loves it keeps the heat in. and we got a soft cover to go with it
