  • Poor packaging service from Amazon
Wow poor all around packaging damage occurred to the jacket of the book making it look like it has been used and abused. If you throw it in a box not wrapped and with other items and the book has movement within the box you have destroyed a new book. The book itself is intact and exactly what I wanted but for a gift for Christmas it is pretty sad. I would of returned it but it looks like it wouldn’t make the deadline to get another by Christmas or same service would happen with the next book. ... show more

  • Britain First
Like all DK books, this volume is full of dazzling imagery and beautiful design. However, also like so many DK books, its editors hail from a parallel universe where the Brits/Europeans invented everything from television to baseball. Case in point: the Wright Flyer, the aircraft that alone ushered in the age of powered flight, is nothing more than a 1/8th page corner sidenote with two sentences of copy. Let that sink in. And at the same time, European planes and designers get two-page spreads throughout. ... show more

  • Gift for FIL
I purchased this as a gift for my future father in law who loves the air and space museums. This book is full of detail and vivid pictures as well as intricacies that you won’t find many other places! As this is a coffee table book it runs around 1”-1.5” thick and the focus is on the pictures - which is perfect as English is his third language. Would recommend!! ... show more

  • Great book/BAD packaging
Great book ordered for my dad for Christmas. Book is awesome and he will love it. Packaging,, well there was none. The book was just sliding around in the box with another item and the cover was creased and bent up. He won't care at all but I think it's too nice a book to have it damaged over something that can be prevented by simply packaging it correctly. Would have easily been 5 stars had they actually packed it like they should have. ... show more

  • Outstanding Work
This is one of the best reference books about aircraft that you can get. It has pictures and descriptions of almost every notable civilian and military plane from the the pre-WWI era to the present. As is the norm for DK books it's beautifully put together and finished and you will find yourself browsing through it on a regular basis. ... show more

  • Great Book, But Stained
This was a gift for my dad and he really loves it! :) The only problem I had with the book was that it came with a black dirt spot on the cover, but that doesn't really bother my dad, so he didn't mind, but it would have been perfect if it didn't have the black dirt spot.

  • My 65 Y/O Dad loves it! Text next to pictures is small.. FYI
Purchased for my father, he’s 65, he loves it. I understand the people complaining about the size of the print. The text next to the pictures is very small but the main text is easy to read. My Dad “skims” over pages while eating breakfast and such, he really enjoys the book.

  • A Gift
My Son checked this book out at school several times and was upset the day the library wouldn't let him recheck it out again. So I bought it for him, he's happy. He loves learning how it all started and how planes have evolved due to demands or needs.
