  • Broke down, but I have to say I love it.
Okay, it didn't last a month for me. But that month was about 4 to 6 solid hours each day of torture for it. Lesser brands wouldn't have made it through the first week. The grinder stalled on me once early on, as if the right angle gear head was in a bind, and something told me it wasn't long for this world. I kept pulling the trigger and in a minute the tool became unstuck, so I kept using it, hard. I was using the correct air pressure, lubing it, and greasing the head every day. So why give a tool that broke and had to be returned a five star rating? I've used air tools over 50 years now and with experience you really get a feel for what a tool is doing. My impression was that this was one that slipped past quality control or just was destined to be the bad one. The grinder otherwise screams (quietly) of quality and performed very well as long as I had it. When it finally quit it was a sudden stop and it was done, just as I suspected would happen at some point from that day it stalled. I also have an AirCat straight mini die grinder, and it has been working flawlessly. The claims about lower noise from these grinders are true, and that is really nice, even though I wear ear protection. They also run very smooth and have plenty of oomph. At first the reduced noise gives the impression that it's not as powerful as others I have that are noisier, and that's hard to get used to, but it works as hard as the other noisier grinders. All said, even though it broke and I got a refund, the grinder would have paid it's way with the amount of grunt it provided for the short time I had it. I would not have been disappointed if it broke after the time that I could have gotten a refund, and will likely buy another one next time I have a job requiring a second right angle die grinder - I have an old Dotco RA die grinder for day to day use, but some jobs go better with two grinders available so you don't have to change burrs. When that job comes I'll order another AirCat fully expecting it to perform. If it doesn't, I'll report on it. ... show more

  • Five Stars
Honestly, after about 4 months on the job. Its not what I expected I oiled it up daily when I first got it to the point where oil came out through the back and I don't really do a lot of grinding or cutting I just grind imperfections on metal or weld tacks on the table and at fist it worked great it was very impressive but now a few months later it has lost some of its power I find it spinning slower and with less pressure it stops spinning, so I have to eaz off the pressure so it'll keep working. Im a production welder and this tool slows me down so I recommend maybe for personal use or a Custom Fabrication Shop but not for production Industrial work. ... show more

  • Great die grinder
I like to say I love this aircat die grinder, i work in a professional mechanic shop for over 10 years now and had heard about aircat air tool. I wanted something different so I bought their angle and straight air die grinder and it came in handy when ever I need it. No issue so far since I had it about 1 month now. I know there a lot of complaints about these tool breaking/not lasting long or the push start button handle hard to control. Will I am going to be honest it’s not, it is actually very easy to control your speed variety and the tool breaking part I believe if you know how to take care of your tool it will last a life time and not only just that the quietness of these air die grinder is very quite compare to other die grinder I have own in the past. I guess it’s not for everyone but for me I love it. The tool quality is built perfect when you look at it you know it’s not cheaply made. Keep up the great work aircat I hope to see more verities of tool from you guys and soon to buy more. “Thank” ... show more

  • Not for continuous use
Ive had this grinder for two years. It worked really well, then the bearings went south. I used it intermittently for auto restoration. I wanted to get new bearings but they are not easily obtainable. For the price i could have bought 6 Harbor Freight grinders. If you're only going to use it occasionally, it's a good grinder. Here's a quote from an Aircat rep. "We have Industrial Die Grinders in our Universal Tool line that cost between $400-600 like Dotco. If you’re using the 6255 for heavy continuous grinding you will probably only get 2 years out of it. Compare the cost difference. That’s why I’m asking about the application. I want you to have the best tool for the job, that’s all." That should be in the tool description. "Recreational use only" ... show more

  • Nice unit that performs well.
As the other reviews state, this unit is very quiet. I've used many other angle grinders and this one is by far the quietest. It is a well-built unit that is strong and powerful. I have mixed feeling on the trigger when compared to other comparable devices. The trigger mechanism was a major selling point for me. However, it left me a bit disappointed because it is not as easy to use as I thought it would be. All the other grinders have a switch that needs to be flipped in order to use the button on it but this just has a simple button that you pull towards the body of the grinder. The problem is that for prolonged use my hand will get tired trying to hold the button in where on the other units it is easier to use at full speed continuously for longer periods of time. Thankfully I don't use it in those types of situations too often. That being said, overall I'm very happy with the unit. ... show more
