Cheap built. 2 locks keyed different. Have to open both handles to open lid. For the price a person expects more than this. -

Just so you know what you are buying, this is a light gauge aluminum toolbox. I measured mine and it's a little thinner than 16ga. The diamond plate "pattern" is very light, maybe about 1/16" max. Construction looks okay to me, I don't see any issues with welds or bends. All of the riveted parts, which include the handles, locks and hinges, look to be 1/8 for the hinges some and slightly bigger for the handles.... 3/16" maybe. All of the rivets look secure. Now, as far as being a theft proof box, the lock mechanism is just your typical bent piece of metal latch and 16ga is easily bent with a pry bar. It reminds me of the locking mailboxes that you can pickup at any bigbox store. However, for the price, this box is an outstanding deal. Right now a 4x8 sheet of 11ga hot rolled A36 is just under $200, and I would charge an extra $500 to fabricate a similar sized box with cam style locking pins, SO, if you are looking for a decent quality light duty, locking and semi secure box at a good price, this is one to consider. If you need a heavy duty, very secure box for say overnight job site storage, this is not the one for you. ... show more

I've been searching for a rigid toolbox to install on the tongue of my motorcycle trailer to hold straps, registration, etc. and finally found the perfect fit. It's big enough to hold everything I need to hold without being cumbersome. It seems very durable, being made of sturdy aluminum vs. heavy steel or plastic. I really like the design on it and the paint is a classy gloss black. The latch seems to hold tight and secure. There is weather stripping around the edge of the lid to keep the elements on the outside - more on that in a bit. The lid opens incredibly easily due to the gas lifts, and it's really nice that the lid doesn't flop back, and holds itself up versus wasting a hand steadying it. The only issue I foresee is the gas lifts being too strong! Let me explain: when you close and latch the lid, the gas lifts still push up. While the latch is strong enough to keep everything closed, the lid does not close tight to the box and create a seal - there is a gap. The gap is underneath the lip of the lid so I don't think rain coming down with get inside. Since I plan to use this on a trailer though, I'm concerned with splashing water being able to invade the box. I may remove one of the gas cylinders or maybe the latch can be tightened, but that is my only issue with an otherwise stellar product. ... show more

This is great if you're looking for a little extra storage for a trailer or truck bed. The piston close lid is nice and the open latch is sturdy and easy to work. The lock is fairly basic but should deter an outright snatch and grab even if it wouldn't stand up to a crow bar. The box itself is nice and sturdy, held my two bucks without denting. ... show more
