  • Easy setup - Simply unfold, inflate, and attach the seat.

  • Decent start kayak with limitations
I've taken this kayak out several times is various locations. It is best suited on a calm lake or river where boat traffic is minimal to none. Wind will blow you off course easily and the boat doesn't handle wake (waves from other boats) well. Tracking is about what you'd expect. Each stroke causes the kayak to go side to side. It is better with the skeg attached (fin on bottom), but not by much. This is partly because it is so wide, which actually helps with getting in and out. Attaching the skeg is fairly simple. I also own the island voyager 2, and it can take 20 minutes or more to attach that skeg (different design). This one slides in and stays put. Inflating is simple. Attach a pump to one of the ports, fill it up, and you're good to go. I can never get the small tubes filled up enough- they always leak all air before sealed. The seat is a bit disappointing. It is decent in terms of comfort, but I've ended up sitting on it at least twice now. That means I have to work on fixing it while not tipping the kayak. Not exactly a fun thing to do! I was able to buy mine online for under $300. For that price this is a great starter kayak. If I had to do it again, I'd opt for the advanced frame elite or expedition elite. Both come with a drop stitch floor, which makes the kayak more stable overall. The drop stitch floor for this model is a ridiculous price, somewhere in the neighborhood of $150. When you spend $300 on a kayak, you don't expect to spend half or that on an optional accessory. One other word of warning, contacting advanced element for help is almost pointless. I was able to reach their live chat recently, but I wrote them several emails over several months and never received a response. That doesn't instill confidence in the company. ... show more

  • Easy to manuver and take to the water
My wife had the similar model (blue) and really liked it, so I decided to purchase the similar one. The kayak is easy to blow up and rides smooth and tracks well. Not a whole lot of extra room and no way to attach a fishing pole holder attachement that I have been able to find so far, but I was able to still position my pole behind the seat in a way to troll with it. ... show more
