Metal dryer vent from Lowe's was very flimsy and tore easily causing dryer to not dry well. I came on Amazon to find a replacement and there are tons of Chinese items. I ended up checking out virtually all of the options and landed on one that also had a coating on the outside to make it stronger. I can say that the plastic coating does exactly that: it helps control the hose while installing, has a good feel, and is sealed properly around the vent. My item came properly sized and it fit around both hose hookups. You'll notice reviews saying some of the hoses out there are too small which renders it unusable. I recently used the AC Infinity Flexible 4-Inch Aluminum Ducting, Heavy-Duty Four-Layer Protection, 8-Feet Long, and it's been fantastic. I cut it down to fit my dryer close to the wall, and it fits snugly without peeling, which I love. I waited a year to write this review to see how it would hold up, and it still looks like I just purchased it. Cleaning the inside is a breeze, as lint doesn't stick to the material. Cut and used this hose to replace a damaged vehicle cold air intake hose. Was concerned that the under hood heat would damage this hose, but has held up well so far. Clamps are cheap, however. One stripped completely when installing

I am soooo disappointed... With my inability to macguyver anything close to this hose.. I mean, I even tried using similar materials, like mylar instead of foil, insulating with Amazon delivery envelopes and wrapping with the equivalent of Saran wrap.. and my portable air conditioner barely dropped down below 80.. so as I write this inmy room,which is a nice cool 66, at the moment, I at least enjoy my sense of failure in a nice, cool room . But hey, at least I didn't buy the stupid window kit . That's right, so e Saran wrap, a lil bit of cardboard, and I shut that one down... So yeah, buy this hose.. at the low cost, and Amazon's same day delivery, at least you won't have to wait long or pay too much if you too are as stubborn as I am and take forever getting to the point of buying this for your portable AC. The proof is in the lack of sweat puddles.. this works, and works WELL! ... show more

    • Great duct, subpar clamps

After comparing many of the flexible duct offerings on Amazon, this one sounded like one of the better options, with 4 layer construction. It turned out to be even better than I expected as far as strength of the flexible material. I expected to snip the wire and quickly run a knife around it to cut it, but took a bit more of a dedicated effort than that to cut it. It wasn't difficult, but a bit more resistant to cutting than I expected - that's definitely a good thing. The clamps provided are nowhere close to the same quality as the duct. The clamps are stamped and have rough edges on the inside all the way around both sides. I had to sand those rough edges or I'm sure the clamps would have cut through the material of the duct. And the screw to tighten the clamp is a 7mm hex head, which of course is not standard in North America. The screw also accepts a Phillips screwdriver, but the recess for the screwdriver is not as deep as most Phillips screws in North America so the screwdriver doesn't fit well. (I tried many of my screwdrivers and the only one that fit well was one that I had filed the point down a bit.) I bought this just for the quality of the flexible duct, since I already had clamps, so I am happy with my purchase. If you are buying this as a complete solution and need to use the clamps that are supplied with it, be aware of the issues mentioned above. ... show more
