  • Works OK the ratchet friction is a problem
The unit works as intended but the ratchet friction is too high so that you have to awkwardly hold one side of the compression arm until it touches the pad. I would have returned it for a higher quality tool but I used it and got it quite dirty.

  • So far so good
I only used it once so far and it got the job done

  • Great Concept
The tool is sturdy and made of good, solid material. I just have two small issues: 1) you have to apply some sort of hand pressure to get the spreader started in order to have the ratchet engage, and 2) the larger plates, while attached by magnets and lined up with dimples, are somewhat awkward to keep in place while engaging the ratchet. Once engaged, however, the tool works very well. It just might take some getting used to. No regrets buying it. ... show more

  • I have confidence in ABN.
Got tired of using C clamp so when I refinished the calipers on the vette I decided to pick up a caliper piston tool so I would not mess up the new finish on the calipers. Justified it because I lost count of all the brake jobs I've done on my personal and friends cars, trucks and motorcycles. I chose ABN because I have been happy w/ their products in the past. They did not disappoint. Quality construction. The add on Amazon does not do this product justice ... show more

  • Good, but could be better.
They work very well. Only two thing I would change are 1) I wish they retracted further in as they were a touch too wide to fit in the caliper with the piston out. 2) when you fully retract it, make it to where the pads on the tool don’t fall off. This caused me. A bit of a headache getting it started, but once it was going, it was great. ... show more

  • A great and cheap way to compress calipers properly.
If you’ve ever putzed around with a C-clamp to compress a multi-piston caliper, this will make your life easier and make the job more straightforward. I’ve used a clamp for decades. After I bought this on a whim, I’ll never use a clamp again. One word of advice - keep a finger on the ratchet shaft to give it the resistance to actually ratchet; several reviews here mentioned that it won’t function properly if there is no pressure on the “pads,” but that’s also how ratchets work - they need resistance to work. ... show more

  • It gets the job done!
It's a little fussy to hold it just right so that the ratchet engages enough to cause the plates to separate. But, once you get it figured out, it performs fine. For the money, very good.
