  • ROCK SOLID
Color: Stainless Steel
I bought this almost 3 years ago and used it daily. It has not aged a day. Still functions just as the day I got it. The only downside is you have to order replacement bottles from AARKE every year or so, they're like $30-$40. But its worth it in my opinion.

  • Beautiful, sturdy & easy carbination
Color: Stainless Steel
I purchased the AArke as an upgrade of our Soda Stream. I hated the large button on top that you had to push down with force, the loud noise of the Soda Stream, and the look. So, after researching, I found the AArke. Originally I wanted one for glass bottles, for better taste, but we use the AArke bottles (which are nice) and then transfer the water to kombucha bottles, and add fresh berries, spritzes of berries, etc. and store in our fridge for drinking. I was looking at the Soda Stream One Touch, but it needed a dedicated power supply, and I didn't want to be confined on placement of the unit (ie: If I wanted to bring it out in the bar area for entertaining, or in the living room, where we watched movies, etc.) So, the AArke it was. I am so glad I purchased! The AArke is beautiful (as most have stated) and it really makes a statement. It feels extremely sturdy in the hand, and it doesn't take up as much space on the countertop as I had anticipated. I really love this unit! The stainless is shiny (it almost has the color of chrome) but it pairs well with our stainless in our kitchen and dining room. We have modern cabinetry and appliances, and traditional furniture, and it really fits in nicely. What I like the most about the unit is the easy handle and the easy carbonation. I LOVE that I push down on the lever handle and it isn't a struggle. The lever is easier on my hands and my kids use it, without issue as well. On our previous unit it was hard for my youngest to see the button on top, and if you had it underneath a cabinet, it wasn't always the easiest to push down with the force that was needed. Additionally, the carbonation is amazing and the bubbles seem finer than what I had previously. I can drink this water straight, without needing flavor, but maybe that is just because I am now used to carbonated water? Anyway, GREAT carbonation in my opinion! I would HIGHLY recommend the AArke system. The price is a little higher, but it fits in so nicely and really ups the look of an "appliance" in our kitchen. This would make an amazing gift for that person that thinks they have it all, and might just be looking to get a little healthier by drinking more water. ... show more

  • When you've given up soda but miss the bubbles . . .
Color: Brass
Our household quit drinking soda a couple of years ago. We enjoyed water, sometimes with a squeeze of lemon or lime, but we missed the bubbles. Last Christmas we got this Aarke carbonator and we love it. We use it every day, often multiple times a day. The Aarke is easy to use. You need to buy a 60 L CO2 cylinder separately. For us, a cylinder lasts 4-6 weeks. We buy the SodaStream brand from WallyWorld. You buy one at full price, but when it's empty you just go to the service desk and they'll swap it for a full cylinder. A swapped cylinder is usually about half the price of a brand-new one. When you buy this carbonator, it comes with its own bottle. Once you've loaded the canister, you just put water (plain water, no additions) into the Aarke bottle, screw it onto the carbonator and pull down the lever until it makes a buzzing noise. The first time I used it, that noise was so grating that I worried there was something wrong. But no, that's just the way it sounds. Anyway, you use the lever once for light carbonation, twice for medium and three times for ultra-carbonation. We usually use twice. The water stays fizzy in the Aarke bottle for at least a day or two. That's the longest we've ever gone without using it all up, so though I expect it would stay fizzy longer, I can't say for sure. Though you're not supposed to carbonate anything other than plain water, of course you can add in whatever you want after you've done the carbonation. We only use lemon or line juice, but there are loads of syrups readily available if you're interested. You might ask why, especially if we use SodaStream cylinders, we chose the Aarke for our carbonator. The answer is for its good looks. Since this is a small appliance we use every day, it sits out on our counter and we want it to look good. You have multiple colors to choose from, so you should be able to find one to suit your own home decor. ... show more

  • A Very Solid and Well Made Home Carbonator.
I tried The SodaStream and the Drinkmate carbonators before spending the extra bucks for the Aarke. The former two units are plastic and pretty light, the Aarke is solid metal and substantial. On performance, the Aarke has been a much more consistent performer in injecting the CO2. It will consistently carbonate your water down to the last gasp of the CO2 in the cylinder. The manual is not well organized and you have to look in the FAQ section to find out how to successfully use the unit. The unit also requires that the bottles be screwed into the unit. It does not have a simple mounting system such as the SodaStream or the DrinkMate. A small inconvenience given the overall performance of the unit. The unit will accept the SodaStream bottles without any difficulties, despite the distributor's warnings to the contrary. It also uses the 60L SodaStream CO2 cylinders. I suspect that I will switch to the Aarke bottles as I retire my old SodaStream bottles, they are a little nicer and sturdier. If you are/will be a regular, consistent user of a carbonator, I would encourage you to take a look at the Aarke. ... show more
