We purchased these lights (from the same seller/same type) a year ago, and the ones we bought this year to replace a section that had broken was completely different (see image for the ones we got - the remote was different too, so a new design or manufacturer maybe). They didn't work when connected to the old ones, so we ended up just buying a whole new set of three. However, when we got the lights up again, they were easy to set up and they look great in our backyard at night. They work well as outdoor yard holiday lights or just fun colors/white lights throughout the year. Great for garden parties or just to pretty-up your yard. Just a little frustrating that they didn't work with the "old" version of the same product from a year ago, while it appeared nothing had changed on the website. ... show more

While we are happy with the functionality of the lights, the bulbs are NOT waterproof. After several hard thunderstorms (we live in South Florida), several bulbs have about 1.5 inches of water in them. We love these lights. The come with an extra bulb or 2. Within the first month we had to use both of the spare bulbs. No big deal. We wound up buying another complete light set because replacement bulbs are impossible to find. Hence the 4 star. Mant settings & colors. If you need 1 string, buy 2.     • Updated Review - DON'T THROW AWAY

Updated Review: I'm changing my review from 1 to 3 stars. The vendor did send me a replacement unit, which works and allowed me to test other components. Turns out the lights are just fine, it's the plug. Although it claims to be rain tight, I don't believe it is or it's just poor quality. I'm working to print a case to enclose the plug to further protect it, but a simple solution to perhaps extend the life would be to disconnect the plug when not in use and store indoors. Somewhat of pain to do that each time, but I bet all of these reviewers that experienced the same issue would happily take the extra minute if that meant extending the life of the lights. Good news, you can find replacement plug adapters around $10, so DON'T THROW AWAY if the lights stop working. Hope this helps others. Original Review: When I first received the lights, I was very pleased. We hung them on our new pergola, and couldn't wait to show them off at a family cookout. Well today was the big day, and we were ready to see the lights and have a great night. Went to turn them on and nothing. Checked wires, the outlet, the breaker, everything appeared to be in order. Outlet still worked and powered other items, but after testing the lights on other circuits, they still didn't work. So upsetting - JUST ONE MONTH OLD. These lights were used maybe 3 times before so no idea why they would fail so quickly. Deserves 0 stars. ... show more

    • One Slight Problem - Easily Fixed

I tried the lights as soon as I got them. Nothing. They wouldn't turn on. I put batteries in the remote, no change. I knew it had to be either the remote or the control box, so I ordered another set. After all, two sets couldn't have the same problem. When I got the second set, I tested them still in the box and they worked fine. I disconnected the control box and swapped it for the one connected to the first set of lights and they worked great! (The control box is made to disconnect so more than one set of lights can be connected together) I sent email to Peter Lee, the seller listed in the directions, explaining the problem, and the solution I had come up with. Since the two strands can be connected together, they both work fine, I just don't have an extra control box. Peter offered me a full refund of both light sets for my trouble. I can't complain about that! I was originally going to give this a 4 star review ONLY because the first set didn't work, but upon thinking about it, I got two sets of working lights for free. That seems worthy of a 5 star review to me. I would recommend this company to my friends and family. ... show more

2 bulbs don't work. They should have all been working. Now 3 bulbs don't work and, in addition, the power source on the plug also doesn't work which means that the string doesn't have any power to light up. I have tried to contact the seller about this issue but there has been no response. I need a new power source. ... show more
