Having several pop up varieties of portable greenhouses, I thought I'd spend just a small amount more and get a more stable version. I can't begin to tell you how glad I am that I did. The greenhouse absolutely amazed me at how precise the pieces went together. I'm 74, and I put the greenhouse together by myself. Although it would go faster with some assistance, it is certainly doable with one person. The inside head room is quite adequate and comfortable, and the vent feature works exactly as designed. It does certainly need to be on a solid, flat surface, and guying it down is essential. That said, if you have those things, I believe you should be as happy as I am with the results. I really love this greenhouse for the money paid! We assembled it by having one person being the picker/finder, one person taking that and screwing the parts together, one person working on foundation leveling and one person as a runner/helper for misc. took 3 1/2 hours with that system of 3-4 people. Only downside is in cold weather it requires a couple heaters. We are going to try the 6’ bubble wrap for greenhouses sold at FarmTek or other greenhouse supply locations. I saw some on Amazon as well, not sure if its the same as the kind Farm/garden/greenhouse stores offer. Ill report back once done and I can compare heat retention before and after. ... show more

This product was a gift for my wife and she loved it. We have several plants that we put in the garage during the cold months and this green house will eliminate it. It is also great for growing the plants for spring to plant in the ground. The product is worth the price and is strong and roomy.

    • What to Know...

First off, I rate 3 stars because none of these budget greenhouses are suitable out of the box without DIY upgrades. I knew this going in and got this one on sale and got an 8x10 for the 8x6 price. Plus, it was the only brand with free shipping at the time. My first 6x8 choice for $200 was $100 shipping, so only $50 cheaper and smaller. The wind upgrade they provide with this model is just para cord and 4 short ground spikes. Useful for when assembling in a slight breeze this time of year, but should be swapped to more suitable material afterwards. Still plan on using the tie downs on the posts to use steel cable. I assembled myself in two afternoons with very little "re-do's"...after I had the foundation the way I wanted. This particular brand/model is 86" high at the peak with higher side walls, even on the 6x8. Most all others were maybe 74" with 48" side walls. I also anchored a dead level 4x4 foundation with 3/8 2 foot rebar driven thru the 4x4's at opposing angles. I added plates inside and out around the base securing the frame to the 4x4's. This is a must if you want your $350 plus DIY improvement $$ to last more than a few wind storms. And, if like me you chose a spot in your garden that gets the brunt of the wind and storms rolling in from the west. I could have chosen the other end of the garden as it is fairly close to the woods adding protection on the north and west, but it would have been out of reach of running cords or water hose. Other locations nearer house with better wind protection also cut into my sun exposure which defeats the purpose. What you miss on a budget house....this model/brand provides no type of interior cross bracing. This is required to lock this up plumb and provide rigidity. I added aluminum angle on opposing long corners and also screwed it to each upright it crossed. And added flat aluminum bar to short corners. With what I plan to do with the corner tie downs, the frame will be quite solid. Not sure about other brands, but the twin wall PC sheets on this one are light duty in my opinion. They will blow out if you don't run silicone to seal and secure them. I'm also considering adding horizontals between each upright to further secure the panels at the midpoint. They are roughly 5' high and flexible, so they will come out, even with all the framework in place. Bottom line...I've spent probably an extra $300 on a $350 dollar greenhouse to make it useable for everyday out in the open. If you are putting this in an already prepared or level space that is farily wind protected it's a great choice. My rationale for choosing this one was that i would have to beef up any model I bought for the location I chose, and PC panels are replaceable and readily available and not very expensive. So, I could buy one that is cheaper and do the same things I would do to a $700+ greenhouse turning it into a $1000+ greenhouse. If you are not expecting these budget PC greenhouses to be top of the line, then you will be happy. Just know that to erect properly and solid, you will spend probably the same on DIY upgrades as the cost of the greenhouse. If you have a hard budget of $600-$800 all in, you need to be looking at a $300-$400 unit to allow for the extras. My rock to fill the base was free, so I got off easy on that. Besides, if I had to buy rock I can get crush for $20 a scoop. My extras included four 4x4, aluminum angle and flat bar, gravel, extra fasteners, premium silicone, corner braces, and flat brackets. Greenhouse related DIY assembly extras likely were about $250. As it stands, I made a cheaper one into a very solid frame, and if and when some PC panels need replacing, I won't be spending much. And maybe can go a little more rigid if possible in the thickness mine are. If you don't plan on making any DIY upgrades, you shouldn't be looking at greenhouses under $1500. To put together, two people working together is the best, it will make the job go quicker. Set aside an afternoon for assembly.
