10mW diverging output with ring pattern, safe enough for everyday use, fun to demonstrate wave particle duality. SC-LC plugged into power meter was showing 8mW@850nm which is perfect for most applications at campus wide range. Might not be powerful enough for long haul fiber. on/off switch protrudes and is too easy to move by accident, and there's no detent to lock the SC connector in place, just a ferrule grip. This Visual Fault Locator is amazing. It’s so easy to see even in the middle of the day when it was so difficult to see my old one. I used to have to hold an umbrella over my work area to be able to locate it but not with this one.

Pros: Super bright Cons: Can be glitchy. I purchased two of these. One of them will turn off if you tilt it outside of 45-90 degrees. The other one doesn't have this problem. The power switch moves very easily. Slightly brushing it will move it into the on or off position. I have to keep it stored independently from my tool bag or it will constantly turn on and off and drain the battery. ... show more

I use these for fiber optic work. Only the company gives us 1mlw vfls. Over certain distances you can't see that. But this is a 30mlw and I can see it for to 8k feet. Easy to use and good on batteries. Great product and the price is amazing compared to other similar VFLs.
