I bought this to replace my GE air conditioner and I have to say it’s just as good if not better. It is actually quite a bit quieter than I expected and cools the room quickly and efficiently. There are no loud beeps when clicking the options on the control panel, which is a huge plus for me because the GE was obnoxiously loud. Since it evaporates the water, there is no worry of water leaking. I am so surprised that this unit actually cools the room faster then the GE ever did and has the same specs.     • Fan mode runs exhaust fan too, so unhook from window. Very portable. Works very well.

The first unit I received was damaged in shipping. I thought the oily liquid running down from the top had leaked into the box, but it turned out to be the cooling liquid. The company responded quickly, asked for a couple of photos, and a replacement arrived shortly after. Looking at the two shipping boxes, it appears the first unit was dropped hard enough to shatter the foam in the bottom of the box. With refrigerant, the 2nd unit blows out nice cold air. There are two fans: one to pull in room air to cool the refrigerant and exhaust that out a window, and the other fan to suck in room air, cool it down, and blow it back into the room. Both air intakes are not ducted so both pull air at the unit. The hot air exhaust is ducted (nice length of hose is provided) and comes with a resizable holder to attach the hose to in the window opening without leaving a big air gap. In my windows, the size adjustment piece (slim, long piece of plastic) needed some foam insulation tape added to it to make a good seal. I do not understand why the fan-only mode always runs both of the fans. What is the point of using more electricity to blow room air outside if what I'm going for is creating a breeze inside the room? Granted, unhooking the exhaust ducting allows me to blow air out the front and back. But I still think it would be better if each fan could be controlled separately. The remote uses infrared to send to the unit. That is typical, but I prefer a wireless remote so it doesn't get blocked. I thought there was something I could only do from the remote, but the seller reached out to me and I could not remember what I was thinking of when I wrote the first version of this review. The intake for the exhaust air is on the unit and is not ducted. This means the Rimkolo is going to create a negative air pressure in the room, pulling other (warm) air into the room. My old portable air conditioner included ducting and window attachment so the exhaust air intake could come from someplace other than the room being cooled. That difference and only being able to run both fans in fan mode keeps my rating at 4 out 5 stars. The small size and (relatively) light weight is a big improvement over my former portable air conditioner. This one is no trouble for me to carry up and down stairs, and very easy to roll around. That portability might turn into a negative for me and a positive for my daughter: the way she is eyeing my Rimkolo air conditioner, I suspect it will soon be cooling her spaces instead of mine. ... show more

    • Very easy install, great overall unit!

The media could not be loaded. I got this unit for my sons room that just seems to get more sun (thus heat) than the rest of the rooms in the house. I wanted to make sure he is nice and cool during our hot Arizona summers. I went with this unit because of the price, BTU and simplicity of setup/use. I was going to pay almost twice as much at my local improvement store and the other unit covered less square footage. I was pleased to find out that a window kit was already included and I did not have to go out and buy one separately. The remote is a nice addition and works flawlessly to control the unit. The wheels are one of my favorite things about it since it makes the AC unit easy to move around when cleaning the floors. When it comes to cooling I was surprised at how quickly it started putting out cold air (literally seconds). In the past I have had units that it can take a few minutes before you get cold air. This was not the case here. In terms of sound output it is fairly quiet and after a few minutes you can barely tell the unit itself is on. Probably the deciding factor for me buying this was the safe child lock function! I have a toddler who is 2 and always running around and I'm happy I don't have to worry about him moving buttons. The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my sons room as he works overnights and needs to sleep during the day. Since it is very quiet it cools his room and the sound doesn't bother him at all. I love that it has automatic and timer settings so that its not left running all the time. I really like this unit! This portable air conditioner was easy to install and allows us to get some air in my daughter's room. We don't have air and so our house gets rather hot and we really needed some sort of air or fan to help cool things off. This allows her to have a regular fan on cooler nights or she can turn on the air conditioner feature for the really hot nights and it cools things down. I got this AC unit for my home office. Since the office faces the sun all day, it is substantially warmer than the rest of the house. This unit can keep my office nice and cool during the hot summer. What I like about this unit is that it's quiet compared to fans or other AC units. I can have conversations in the room without raising my voice or meeting over Zoom without apologizing for the background noise. The unit has everything you need, so you do not need to go out and get anything else and can start using it immediately. The remote is another great feature as you can shut it off, put it in a timer, turn it on, adjust the speeds, and control the unit while doing your work.
