  • This tripod is a great value with an excellent build quality for the price.
It is by far superior to any travel tripods and monopods I own. The design is well thought-out and extremely functional. It had enough weight to feel substantial without being a burden to carry. The tripod is equipped with a very nice ball-head. It is easy to adjust and is very sturdy. The panning motion of the head is extremely smooth. The quick release plate seems to be a standard arca-swiss plate. The center column is easy to adjust and obtain that extra height when you need it. It also disassembles to combine with one of the legs to create monopod. This is great to have, and you don’t need to carry two pieces of equipment. The bottom of the center column is equipped with a hook for mounting extra weight, should you need the extra stability. The legs are locked into place with a metal spring-loaded lever that make folding the legs up and down very easy. The entire tripod is equipped with twist locks that are very smooth and simple to operate. ... show more

  • Very sturdy
Size: 85 Inch Color: Blue
Love this tripod. Very durable. Easy to use. Only issue- getting it back in the carry bag. You have to get it folded just right or it will NOT fit. But overall very pleased.

  • Sturdy and Tall - Nice Features
I was looking for a tall tripod to shoot video over the heads of a crowd. This one did the job great and has a lot of adjustment options to get the framing right. It is a very sturdy rig, and I like how you have options for the spread of the legs to reduce its footprint on the ground. The tripod mount is different than other standard tripods that I have, so I use the one that came with the tripod. This one slides in, and locks in tight. I wouldn't say that the trood is particularly light in weight, but my interest is in sturdiness. For the price, think this a good buy, and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Lightweight and Sturdy Tripod
The Joilcan tripod is very sturdy and not so lightweight that a little bit of wind could knock it down. I really like that it came with the travel bag and it has an extra height tube for low angle shooting. The camera mount is metal and not plastic which is one of the main reasons why I chose this tripod. I really like the extra angular photo shoots that I can do with this tripod along with the different degrees you can set when creating a video. The ball head has a very smooth movement and the twist knobs make it easy to function with. The only downfall is the placement of the leveler because once you place your camera on top the leveler is covered, so that makes it difficult to determine whether it's levelled or not, which makes you do some guess work, but overall I really like this tripod and would recommend it to a friend. ... show more

  • Uneven when set-up. Extra height is a blessing. Ball head is nice!
I am commenting on the Joilcan 80-inch Tripod which arrived marked as Model H78. I am currently debating if I should return it, although there is a lot going for it. The reason is that when extended the tripod has a definite lean to one side, the side that rests on the removable monopod leg. I'll try to add some pictures. In the pictures the tripod is not fully extended. Fully extended the lean is even more pronounced. When the legs are together they appear to be the same length, so what is the problem? After further review I determined that the culprit was the orange clip on the monopod leg that allows the leg to rest at predetermined angles. There is slightly more space between the bottom of that clip and the part of the leg that it rests against than there is on the other two legs and this makes the tripod lean a bit. When fully extended this makes the tripod more unstable that it would normally be. There are many work-arounds, simply moving the tripod leg in a bit after setting up is the easiest but then it's not resting resting squarely in the slot and prone to sudden movement. A small piece of metal inserted between the bottom of the clip and leg would work as well and could be secured as premanent solution. So all told, not a big deal, but not something the buyer should have to put up with on a brand new tripod. Other than this the tripod is quite an extra-ordinary value for all that it does. The extra height is the main thing for me, I like to photograpgh the sky at night and the extra height allows me to see all of the controls on the back of the camera and look through the viewfinder without bending at odd angles. And since there are plenty of house lights around the extra height helps to eliminate glare and flare in the lens. The large ball on the ball head works well and feels secure. The orange clips that I referenced earlier are probably the weakest points on the tripod and don't inspire much confidence. Otherwise it is a stellar performer. Not professional quality but certainly good enough for most of us amateurs. While considering whether to return it or not I looked around at similarly priced tripods. For the most part they are all the same. I determined that I really don't need a built-in monopod but trying to find one without it leads to higher priced models, or much cheaper ones. You do get what you pay for. ... show more
