This is a good quality and very usable selfie stick. Compact and light enough to fit nicely in my hiking pack but just enough heft to feel very sturdy and durable. It comes with two mounting options, one for phone, along with a standard camera threaded mount. There is a single wing nut to adjust the vertical angle for both mounting options. There is a handle that locks down the horizontal rotation of the mounts on the stick. The phone mount angle can be twisted, but stays in place after adjusting. Extending the stick is done by simply pulling it out and it stays in place. The springs that hold a smart phone in place are very strong and I had zero worries about my phone falling out. The little pop out clips that hold the phone by the edges did not work with my two piece phone case. I removed the outer hard case and it gripped my phone perfectly with the inner TPU case on the phone. There are three legs that pop out and then are locked in place with a simple twist of the base making it a tripod. It does require a reasonably flat surface to use the tripod feature. I did find that there was a little sway with the stick fully extending in a strong breeze. Out hiking, I did use the tripod a few times and it was handy to have this feature, but was somewhat limited on where I could use it. The handle securely holds the small rechargeable Bluetooth clicker. It paired easily to my android phone by using a long click to enter pairing mode. Once paired, a simple click when the phone camera app is open snaps a picture. If camera is set to video, one click to start and click again to stop video recording. If a long time has passed (ie. next day), I have to do the long click once again to get it paired to the phone, but no need to open the Bluetooth setting on the phone again. It did work continuously throughout a day of sightseeing and hiking without having to pair again during the day. The very bottom section is pretty large in diameter and feels a little big to hold comfortably. I found that holding it in one or two sections worked well and the extra handle below my grip acted as a bit of a counter weight, making it easier to hold steady, and provided good balance for taking video. For carrying while hiking, it balanced nicely in the hand with it partially extended. ... show more

I haven't had a chance to really test out using the tripod for its intended function (and therefore have not had a chance to test the remote), but my initial inspection was thorough and so far it looks like a nice product to have. It's fairly light (although I wouldn't take it thru-hiking necessarily), packs down into a neat and compact cylinder when not in use, and is surprisingly tall when fully extended. The phone mount is pretty universal, and rotates to adapt to whatever position you'd like the photo to be taken. The independent 1/4-20 screw peg for mounting most other cameras or camcorders is a nice touch as well, adding some versatility. One thing I wasn't a fan of is the lock that holds the three "legs" in place when they are open does not click or snap into place. It is just a collar that rotates, but the rotation is pretty loose and has no way of locking it so that it stays in place to stop the legs from folding in when it's being used. It stays enough to use it, but if bumped or slid there is a good chance of it letting the legs collapse on you. ... show more

I found this useful tripod indispensable, in performing a variety of photos for a selfie. I was wanting a tripod like this, since I have often struggled with obtaining the proper desired image. I like that this 72” aluminum tripod allows for taking the image from a wide variety of heights and angles, with 360 degree rotation and 180 degree angle possibilities. I have often felt limited with just trying to prop up my phone, for instance, on my couch or a counter, which often turns out to display an awkward angle. As far as the set up, I was disappointed to find it rather counter intuitive, at first. I had thought initially that the base arrived in a locked position, when I realized it arrived unlocked. I was sad that the expandable portion was not more flexible. It took me a while to figure out that I had to yank and yank and yank the tubes in the center up, to expand the height. I usually leave my iPhone in its heavy duty case. Once I took off the outer hard shell layer, it took some trial and error to realize that the 2.4” to 3.8” phone holder would indeed hold my iPhone still contained within its outer soft layer case. Yet, I had to watch out for where the phone holder clamp hit the side buttons. I was pleased that the camera remote fit nicely into its hidden compartment. Once the mystery of the set up was uncovered, I could enjoy and benefit from my helpful new product.
