    • A must-have expansion!
After I picked up 7 wonders duel, my partner and I were immediately addicted, so I felt like picking up the expansion was almost necessary hundreds of plays in. It did not disappoint even the slightest. This expansion adds a whole new dimension to the game that increases the complexity of the game in rewarding ways, such as making a science or military victory much more possible, adding incentives for unveiling cards by providing mythology tokens for placing or getting discounts on pantheon cards, and most importantly, allowing you to skip the conventional step of taking a card by purchasing a pantheon card. Some might criticize the revamp of the original Age III guild cards into simply points-based 'Grand Temple' cards but it actually mitigates victories based on a luck of the draw of one or multiple guild cards that can unfairly overwhelm the opponent and encourages competitive strategy up until the last card is drawn. ... show more

    • Awesome expansion!
The original 7 Wonders: Duel is a great game, among my favorite 2-player games. However, after a dozen or so playthroughs the original game becomes a bit repetitive and leaves an experienced player wanting a bit more. The Pantheon Expansion delivers. All of the new mechanics are well-designed and fun to play. The expansion gives the player several new options that add an entirely new dimension of strategy to the game. I've found the expanded game has considerably more staying power than the original, mostly because it's more dynamic and complex, giving an experienced player considerably more to think about. The expansion involves a lot of new rules and significant set-up time, which could be a bit of an obstacle for new players. Also, the addition of new options and powers tends to inure to the benefit of advanced players, causing margins of victory to be larger in the expansion than in the original. But that's also what I think makes the expansion more challenging, rewarding, and fun. I recommend getting acquainted with the original game first, but the expansion is a great improvement.     • An essential addition to 7 Wonders Duel
The Pantheon expansion provides an excellent new dimension to 7 Wonders Duel, one that adds a rich layer of gameplay without greatly extending the length of play. The biggest addition consists of fifteen deity cards (three of five different types), with various powers (associated with components of the game such as the military track, the scientific tokens, or the wonders). Five deities get chosen during Era 1 and become available for purchase starting in Era 2. As long as a deity remains available, players may pay coins to purchase it instead of taking a card from the central board, discarding a card for coins, or building a wonder. Pantheon also adds a new type of purple card (which replaces those used in the base game) and two new wonders. The base 7 Wonders Duel game began to feel repetitive, but Pantheon injects a new blast of energy and strategy. My one critique is that some of the gods are much more powerful or desirable than others. Still, Pantheon is a must-have. ... show more

Do you love 7 Wonders Duel but it has grown stale or you do not like the lack of options in the base game? This expansion fixes a game that wasn't even broken in the first place. It is a must own. The base game is amazing. The only thing I can consider a negative aspect of it is that sometimes you are forced to uncover a card your opponent really wants. This fixes that. Now, you can call upon the gods instead of taking a card which totally breaks the predetermined flow of the base game. Do the gods add anything else of value to the game? Of course they do and I love how in the first part of the game you get to decide where to place them. Did you get one that your opponent has no use for? Put it closer to them so they have to pay more for the ones they really want to use. Buy this expansion. It is a must. ... show more

Panetheon is a wonderful expansion! Honestly, it is the only way I will plan 7 Wonders now. The only thing I wished was that the original game had space to fit the expansion. Even though it doesn't, you can modify the existing plastic insert from the original game by cutting 1/4-1/2" down in the areas I have marked. After modifications, the expansion fits perfectly within the base box. ... show more
