  • Worth the price
Size: 58MM
The media could not be loaded. I’ve only played around with this, haven’t had a chance to really go out and take a bunch of pics with it, so please excuse the random pictures of bathtubs, house plants, ect. Seems to work really well and be well made for how inexpensive it was. Obviously not high end quality... and you do lose focus around the edges but I’m okay with that. Any pics I’d be taking with these would be of one or two objects at most so the blurred edges could be background, not planning on doing while family portraits with it. The wide angle gives quite a bit or extra space to the edges, able to capture more in a photo than without. Photos I’m uploading are of without either lens, with the wide angle lens, and with the marco for a comparison of all. Only issue I have is that there was a little nick in the thread of one side that I think is the cause of this rather loud sound when unscrewing the lens. I’ll try and upload the video. However aside from the annoying sound, it doesn’t seem to effect it from attaching properly. The box was also a little dented when it arrived and wasn’t sealed so it made me feel like it might have been a return or something... but I couldn’t see any issues other than the one nick I previously mentioned. ... show more

  • Well Built! Works Well! HIGHLY recommend!
Size: 52MM
HIGHLY recommend! There, I said it again. I purchased a 43mm-52mm Metal Step Up Ring to attach this lens to an old Canon VIXIA R80 for my wide-angle shots. After reading complaints on all of the built-for-VIXIA (43mm) wide-angle lenses showing the (circular) outer rim, I wanted to make sure and buy a larger lens. This works perfectly! I've attached stills from two videos: one with, and one without this lens. And sorry about my filthy picture window; it's still too cold to step out and wash it! LOL The first thing to note: It's heavy. And I mean that in a GOOD way! It's absolutely solid! Metal housing, quality glass on both the macro and wide-angle lenses, and a secure fit where they are threaded to each other, to the step-up ring, and to the camera. The second thing: It comes with little extras that I had not been expecting: A rubber lens cover that press-fits securely to the front of the lens, and a vegan-leather (PU) carry bag, both of which I will be using even though I didn't know I needed them. The front of this lens is a good 85mm across, which would be the main reason why this baby is so heavy! The third thing: It is definitely fish-eyed. I left in part of the window frame in the wide shot (top right), so you could see the amount of curvature. Remember that I'm shooting through a sized-up 43mm fitting, so this is really just the center of the 52mm Altura lens. And once again, I HIGHLY recommend! ... show more

  • Pretty Good Value
Size: 49MM
I bought the 49mm model. I have tried this on 3 different Canon cameras (Rebel T7, R100, and M200) using Canon automatic lenses having 49mm front filter threads. It works pretty well and because it is an add-on, you retain automatic focus and exposure (assuming the lens is an automatic rather than manual). Keep in mind this is an inexpensive attachment, not a high-end piece of glass. It is a bit bulky and adds weight to everything and makes the front heavy (but that also happens with long lenses as well). There are actually two components to this system - a separate macro adapter between the camera lens and the wide angle adapter itself. The macro lens can be used separately without the wide-angle attachment. The product description is a little unclear on this point. It would be nice if they sold a kit that had 4 macros with 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, and 58mm threads so that it was possible to use this add-on adapter on a wider range of lenses. I have not yet tried step-down thread adapters to see if this attachment will work larger filter threads - not sure if that will create an optical problem. Update: I tried a number of different step-down adapters (52mm to 49mm, 58mm to 49mm, 67mm-49mm). While there were varying degrees of vignetting on the larger step-downs, it still worked. Obviously, the 67mm created a lot of image size reduction. The 67mm filter size was for a Canon 10mm-18mm EF-S zoom lens. ... show more

  • Awesome but no auto focus
Size: 58MM
Pretty neat. I purchased this to replace a cheaper wide angle adaptor that I wasn't super impressed with. I'm pleased with the purchase but wanted to add one caveat. The quality and effect of the adaptor are an improvement over the other adaptor. However, the manufacturer claims that auto focus won't be affected when this adaptor is installed. I found this not to be the case when I attached the adaptor to a 18-55mm lens on a Rebel t7. The image is badly out of focus when my camera indicates otherwise. So, I use the lens (with adaptor) in manual focus mode only. I'm still pleased enough with the results that I'm giving this 5 stars, but I thought it worth mentioning. ... show more

  • Not for video.
Size: 58MM
This may be ok for still photography but it's not, in my opinion, suitable for video. You get light artifacts and the camera has a hard time staying in focus over distance with this lens attachment. Also I just wanted a basic wide angle and this adds an annoying fisheye effect. Also when zoomed all the way out you see the edge of the lens ring. As I needed to be zoomed all the way out to capture the stage I was shooting this made the lens adapter all but useless for my needs. That said it is well constructed and sturdy and some may find a good use for it (hence the three stars). It's just not for me and I had to return it. ... show more
