  • Worked for what we needed.
We had something in our main sewer line that was causing a blockage. We thought it was a rock that had fallen in. We really didn’t want to pay the $300 plus to have a plumbing company put a camera down it, so we bought this camera. We had a little trouble, in the beginning, but finally got it in the right spot and took a picture. Lo and behold, it was a rock. A pretty big one amazingly enough. It gave us the info we needed to dig it up. ... show more

  • A VERY handy tool with many uses besides drain clogs - and a responsive seller
The media could not be loaded. PREFACE: I don't hand out five star ratings like candy. This is a good device, and I'm glad I BOUGHT it. FWIW, this is NOT a Vine-generated review. (Nothing wrong with Vine Reviews, I am one...but in this case I bought this device after much shopping at full regular Amazon price. In fact, there are a number of inexpensive Sino-sourced borescopes on the market these days, and the competition to get your purchase is fierce. In my case, I had some specific requirements. As always, one has to juggle those specific needs against the price point. In the end I selected the DXZToz unit for three reasons 1. Longer focal length. This may sound like a minor deal. trust me, it's not. The diagnostic difference between a photo that is sharp out to 10-12" distance compared to one focused only on 2-6" is amazing - especially if you looking down a section of air-conditioning duct, or behind restricted equipment. In those cases, a fuzzy out of focus "something" a foot away is - to be frank - not much help. The DXZtoz offers a deliberately longer focal length, which met my need perfectly. Whatever you buy, do NOT buy a short focus endoscope unless you really really REALLY know you need short focus only. 2. Selectable side camera. This is a no brainer. Being able to press a button and change the angle 90º instantly back and forth is a must. Whatever brand you select, don't get one without this feature, either. 3. Generally durable build quality. This is often forgotten, but these kinds of cameras can live a fairly rough life. Getting bumped, dropped, dirty and wet is a common part of their existence. You want something durable and straighforward. This device fits that bill. Easy to use too...no deep multi-level menus. All critical functions accessible with one or two button pushes, and a clear large display screen, plus a standard format for your files. You can put the card directly in any Macintosh or PC OS and immediately get playback. No "ap" to download. No "special viewing software". Just click and watch. REVIEWER OBSERVATIONS Pros: Easy interface, dual camera, standard file format, a handy built in adjustable LED plus a light on the display unit itself (for working in dark areas - very handy!) and a durable, heavy duty and appropriately stiff camera wand. The flexibility is just right. Not terribly floppy, but not so stiff that it can't be negotiated through more open spaces. Note that you WILL need to attach this and any pipe-cam to a snake to get it very deep into the pipe, but DXZ thought of that and provided several handy attachments that fit the camera head to make attaching a snake just a little easier. Cons: Very few, but here they are a.) The 2mP camera resolution is not absolute state of the art 2023, but in fairness it is more than adequate for the kind of work you're doing...and a side benefit is that 2MP cameras make for smaller video filesizes, which makes transferring files a lot faster and easier. After all, you're not making a major motion picture with this, you're looking at a ball of crud in a pipe, right? b.) Some of the controls are not totally intuitive. You WILL want to read the manual. From my user perspective, this is minor - but here's an example. When selecting the date and time, and holding the device oriented so that the english language markings are in their "up" position, (buttons to the right of screen) the "up" arrow decriments the year, month, day or time, while the "down" arrow increases them. It feels backwards...but this is minor. Same thing is true of the 180º reverse angle button. The natural orientation of the camera when powered on is upside down from a user perspective relative to the buttons-right orientation of the display screen. Not a huge deal, just a little detail that keeps me from giving it a 5+ star...really it is a 5 star device, but not quite perfect. c.) Another small but illustrative "not quite a five+ star" is the non-intuitive placement of the dual camera button. (see photograph #6) All other fuctions of the device are controlled by buttons on the hand-held display unit...except this one. Flipping between cameras (an exceptionally excellent and handy feature) is accomplished by pressing a button ON THE CAMERA CABLE plug... a button which is not labeled nor obvious, nor mentioned in the operational manual! You just kind of have to find it. But in practical terms the side camera is SUPER handy. See the photo of the side camera in action, looking at the back of an alternator on my car that is in a very very tight spot. Made it extremely easy to verify exact model number, since on my car there are TWO possible alternator choices! Without this side-cam feature, I would have had to remove the alternator to get that number! d.) The lack of a blow-mold protective case is a bit of a miss. The cardboard box is nice and the cut foam presents well when new, but due to the close sizing of the box, once you unroll the 50' camera cable one time, you'll NEVER get it rolled back up compactly enough to put it back in the OEM box. This means you have to supply your own case for this thing...an inexplicable oversight for a device which does demand some protection in the field. e.) Finally, the manual. It is adequate but not excellent. The manual appears to have been translated from Chinese to English by Google Translator...so one gets gems like this "please pull out and shape the cable little by little as your need, and coil into circle after finishing use." or... "do not impudently pull the cable" But ultimately, these are fairly minor quibbles. Don't let them overshadow the reality that this is an amazing and versatile device at this price point, and in my opinion a tool that every DIY'er, mechanic, plumber, HVAC technician, home remodeler, etc. should own and keep handy. The number of problems it can quickly solve are myriad. The kinds of answers it can provide without the need for time consuming or difficult disassembly of a complex device mean you will recover your purchase price on the first couple of uses. What would take it over the top and make it a five plus star, "buy this one" endoscope? Four things a.) fix the weird upside down stuff in the date/time and other orientation of camera to display b.) mention the a/b camera selector button in the manual c.) INCLUDE A VARIABLE FOCUS OPTION - to allow the user to adjust the focus by screwing the lens assembly in or out, or by adding a "distant focus" slip on lens in the accessory kit. d.) Make the storage box a wee bit larger, or include a blow-mold protective case...and NOT one that is so tightly designed that only a factory wind of the 50' cable will let you fit everything back in the box! Overall - this is still a super nice device, and highly recommended. I've upgraded my review to five stars - not because I've changed my mind about the device's small weaknesses, but rather because the make contacted me. They had reviewed my review and seem responsive to the idea of changes and improvements. Not sure how much real difference my input will make, but I'm impressed that a manufacturer would go the extra mile to read and perhaps consider these reviews. Perhaps the review system DOES work? :-) Anyway, this tool WORKS WELL, and I'm happy with my endoscope. I'm also using it - a lot more than I expected. ... show more

  • Great quality video, but couldn't navigate my p-traps
The media could not be loaded. Looks like it's very high quality, but for some reason it could not go down past either p-traps in my shower or my outside drain. Both are rather large pipes, so I'm not sure why?

  • Picture is great!
I was a little scriptural about buying this because the price seemed to good to be true. After receiving it, 10/10 would recommend. Picture has amazing quality, very easy to use. We used it to find a toy flushed down the toilet that got caught somewhere in the line. It actually is waterproof! We’ll be using it for other projects in the future like fishing wire. Very impressed for the quality and price. ... show more

  • Stupid camera cord
This camera cord did not work well in our pipes. Stupid thing bends with any force so if you catch a lip through a curve you are screwed. Couldn't force it through because it bunches up. Way too thin to do any real work with. If the camera had a better shape other than "catch everything" square it would be alright. ... show more

  • Excellent value for money
I need to run wires from the room divider to another room. It is so convenient to use this camera. I can now see clearly the corners of the room that my eyes cannot see. This product is great!

  • Really impressed
Purchased this product to take a look down the waste lines in our home. We had a clog outside in a double trap and were able to lower this down while to view what we needed to clean out. Once cleaned off after that mess, have been able to use it to view things in tight places and fishing wire in walls. ... show more
