First off, I'm not a professional guitarist, but I have played in bands when I was younger. I bought this amp because of the price, and the mostly positive review videos on the YouTube. Seeing the amp I've owned for over 20 years finally died on me, and there are other things I'd rather spend my money on, this little amp seems to meet my needs. What WAS I thinking? Needed a quick replacement for my Vox AD15VT which suddenly died on me—this turned out not to be the right choice! Poorly packaged, just a thin sheet of bubble wrap and some little squares of styrofoam in a lightweight cardboard box. Dented on top edge of cabinet, either in shipping or maybe it was a customer return … 8" speaker no match for the Vox 8", "Boost" button overdrive is a joke and totally unusable, reverb/delay meh. Only plus was it arrived earlier than estimated!! Am ordering a Monoprice Stage Right 40w with 10" speaker for an extra $10—I have a Monoprice Tele that's a really nice guitar, so fingers crossed … ... show more

Firstly, this thing arrived toggled "on," which is a new one for me! It's an odd amp. For $90 I know you can't be TOO harsh, but here's what I learned... 1. It's better as a bass amp. Downright passable. And a lot of the features are bass-amp coded. 2. Start with all three EQ knobs all the way down. Turn "bass" up all the way and bleed in a smidge of treble and mids to taste. 3. The "gain" knob only works when "boost" is engaged. This isn't really a boost. It's a weird distortion/fuzz circuit. Again, sounds decent on bass. On guitar, it sounds like someone put a pencil through the speaker cone. 4. It's an 8" speaker, but the hole in the grille is only 6" and I honestly have no idea if that's normal or not. It feels like it's not normal. 5. The "boost" circuit is quieter than the clean circuit. Adding gain should always be louder is a battle I will fight forever. It's small, lightweight, inexpensive, and punchy. It's better than similarly-priced amps. It's not better than a $220 Fender Champ for guitar. Personally, I'd save up for a Fender Rumble 40 on bass and a Fender Champion 40 on guitar. Both are $229, have the same wattage, are similarly lightweight, and offer more options. But, in a pinch, this is serviceable on bass. ... show more
