This safe is no way possible fireproof or water proof like stated in the description. This is a steel box with a lock on it. No fireproofing or moisture barrier anywhere. Good for price for what it does but don’t be mislead like I was.

This safe should not have cost more than $125 to $150 tops. It is neither fireproof nor water proof. It is thin drillable metal (read on) and has plastic outside hinges. There are no fireproofing materials lining this thin metal box what so ever. There are no door seals to make it waterproof. The drawers are all misaligned, but they do slide in and out nicely. They simply set cock-eyed . The guide tracks were not put in straight. There are two bolt holes in the bottom and two in the back but none in the sides so contrary to the add, you cannot secure the side to a wall. You can secure the back to a wall and to the floor. It was easy to drill two holes in the side so I could secure it to a wall. The hinges are plastic and on the outside. But, when locked, the hinge side of the door does have welded doubled hooks to the hinge wall lip so even if the hinges are knocked off, the door still cannot be opened. Just a cheap touch to have plastic hinges on the outside. The key works as intended as does the touch pad once you inset the four AA batteries. It is easy to set up a 4 to 8 digit code. The code screen is easy to read and it is bright. There is a tamper alarm but worthless. You cannot hear if past a room or two, and the instructions tell you not to leave it engaged (set to activate if tampered with) as it will run the batteries down over time. I had a specific place with specific dimensions and this safe met them, I would have returned it but it is heavy, I'm old and itis a pain to do so. It will serve my purposes so I am keeping it. But if you actually need a real fire and waterproof safe, this is not for you. ... show more
