My family wanted a portable outdoor projector for the fall as things start to cool off. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on something I didn’t plan to use that often so looked in the $200-300 range. So with me being me, I ordered 6 different ones that supposedly did 4K , have 1000+ lumens, and projected at least 200 inches, and good reviews. I use a 4K Roku for streaming Hulu, ESPN, and the usual movie apps. This was the only one that played in true 4K where the other projectors were 4K pass through but final projection was only 1080. Now don’t get me wrong. The 1080 projectors still had a good image but the Redeer blew me away that a $200 range projector ( bought at 50% off which always appears to be 50% off ) that the image could be so good. I have a 120 inch screen. The image was decent with room lights on but went to the next level with the lights dimmed. Obviously not the same quality as a $2000 4K LED TV with its much higher contrast ratio. But surprised me enough that I bought a 120 inch roll down screen ( placed over my 19yr old HD TV ) for my man cave. This will definitely be my go to TV for football games and movies. Also a huge advantage over the other projectors was the auto focus ( you can fine tune manually), the image sizing so the projector can be used at a range of distances depending on the room size and the image scaled to fit the screen , and the 4 corner keystone adjustment so the projector can be place decentered to the screen if need be and then the image realigned to fit the screen without image tilt or unfocused corners. Where the projector was lacking was the sound. Was ok if you were sitting beside it but not great for a room full of people. I easily hooked it to blue tooth but like all of them there was an audio delay. I then used a headphone cable to connect directly to the Bluetooth speaker and sound delay was negligible. Ultimately I bought an HDMI audio video splitter ( $25 ) and ran an optical sound cable ( $20 ) around my couch to my surround sound audio receiver which obviously sounds much better. And as a bonus could receive a free 120 inch portable cloth screen so when I want to use my projector outside or elsewhere , I will hang up the portable screen and leave my man cave roll down screen in place. Just got the projector a couple days ago, hooked it right up to watch a Disney movie (via Fire TV stick) and everything seems to work great! No real complaints, seems like a great projector for the price. I'll follow up after getting the screen and mounting it. Pros: - Price! - Bright enough to use in a dim / low light room - Good quality image - I used the projector about 15 ft away projecting onto a bed sheet and I still felt like it was a decent quality image (watched Moana). Cons (honestly, fairly minimal): - Image settings: For whatever reason when I hooked up my Amazon Fire TV Stick, it defaulted to a significantly lower brightness setting. I could manually change the brightness back up, but it was annoying that it didn't keep the original brightness setting. - Auto-focus: I had some trouble with the projector struggling to focus (I might have been too far from the screen at ~15 feet), I could manually set the focus but while I was setting it up it occasionally tried to refocus itself which was a little annoying. You can disable the auto focus, which I'll do since I plan on mounting my projector. ... show more
