Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The projector is majorly appreciated for its superior image and color quality, and its smooth 3-D function. Even the refurbished units seem to be working quite well on delivery. Some customers, however, have faced issues with unstable inputs, color flickering, problems with image clarity, and the issue of brightness fading out.

Pros

  • 📽️ Superior image and color quality
  • 🔊 Good volume control
  • 🌀 Smooth 3D function
  • 💡 Even refurbished units work well

Cons

  • 👎 Difficult to achieve stable input detection
  • 🌈 Issues with color stability and flickering
  • 💔 Problems with image clarity due to over-sharpening
  • ⚫ Dark scenes tend to disappear

Should I Buy It?

While the projector boasts excellent visual capabilities and performance, the mentioned stability issues could be a deal-breaker for some. It's recommended that prospective buyers weigh these potential problems against the high-performance image and color quality before making a decision.

  • Awesome Picture
Color: White/Blue
I originally bought a low cost projector (Wimu) for around $250 with great rating. After trying it out, I noticed the quality was poor and the reds looked pinkish. Low cost is fine if it is for kids watching, but for someone who is used to OLED picture quality, it is not acceptable. Decided to go with BenQ TK800M. The picture is outstanding. Colors look accurate. Really enjoy watching movies, sports, and play games on it. I am using a 100" screen for my room. It is watchable in fairly lighted room, but it really shines once the lights are off. It would have been easier to install if there were vertical and horizontal lens adjustments but that would cost more money. I am very happy with the unit and have been using it for a couple of months without any issues. One may occasionally notice some rainbow effects on switching from dark scenes to bright scenes. I have noticed it once in a while, but one can get used to it and learn to ignore it. It does not bother anyone in my house hold. This is not the fault of the projector, and it is the side effect of the technology used in many projectors. The fan is also very quiet. I purchased it from Amazon prime with 30 day money back just in case I had to return it, but this one is a keeper. Bottom line: excellent projector for the money. ... show more

  • So excellent.....
Color: White/Blue
Well...I knew I had to get a big TV considered my living room is 20 feet long. 75" was too small and the biggest 4k TV's they make are 85" and go for about $1500...so I finally bit on this to fulfill my dream of having a nice projector/theater plus it was cheaper.....due to it being 4k and much larger than an 85" and I can tell you it is worth every penny....20 foot living room but obviously I had to mount it at approximately 18.5 ft and its image in 4k is 160 inches diagonally (just shy of a 14 ft 4k screen). Regular blue ray and TV is a little smaller as in it doesn't fill up the entirety of the projectors screen available, but it absolutely still trumps an 85"....it is very easy to focus and get clear/magnificent picture quality. During the day with fair ambient light the image is not quite as clear because it is battling for light so I added black out curtains in the living room just to help. With the curtains there is still fair light in the day time coming from other windows, doorway etc and the picture is still pretty darn good, and it is not "excessively dark" by any means. You just can't have a ridiculous amount of light coming in and it works great to magnificent. Like I said, well worth the money and I have zero complains about it at all except the picture quality is a little bit less in the middle of the day being super bright out. But the compromise is worth how big and clear the screen is. If you are hesitating? I wouldnt....buy it.... Additional note - I have it just projected on a white wall. With a screen it may do a little better with daytime use, but again, I have no legit complaints about this projector at all.....and I am thoroughly impressed. I cant figure out how to upload the pictures/video I've taken....but again...this thing is excellent and truly has mind blowing picture quality when playing 4k, and below it still damn great. ... show more

  • So, not impressed yet.
Color: White/Blue
Original 7/30/2019 So I like the HDR, it's amazing when gaming and with 4k movies. Directv looks like crap on there but that is a byproduct of DTV crappy receivers and not the projector. The resolution is spot on but I believe I may have received a bad unit because as you can see in the pictures I am having this cloudy area on the bottom foot of the screen that is a product of the projector. I have unhooked everything from the projector to make sure it wasn't one of my other devices doing this but with everything unhooked and it displaying a black image it is still there. I cleaned the lense, no good. I believe there is either and issue with an internal mirror or with the DLP chip itself, at least that's what I was able to find on the internet and Facebook Home Theater groups. I will update after trying a few more things and then worst case returning for a replacement. I still want this projector but I think I just got a bunk one, it happens, especially with electronics. Update 8/1/2019 Added the 3rd picture to show the cloudiness on a black screen with nothing else turned on. I thought maybe it was a dirty/oily screen but I held a piece of 11x17 paper in front of the screen and it was doing it on the paper. I believe it was a bad chip or mirror. Who knows, started the replacement process. I will update after I get that one set up and running. Update 8/26/2019 So got my replacement projector, no thanks to Amazon.com abismal customer service. They received the broken one on 8/8/2019 and I just got an email saying they were refunding the money today, 18 days later. Terrible terrible customer service on this return. Okay, back to the projector. Now that I have a good, working model this thing rocks for the 4k gaming projector, which I have done plenty of. The Division 2 looks so damn good and the HDR for the game is spot on. I have had a couple issue with the blue being too blue if that makes any since and it'll wash out the image some, pretty sure I still just need to mess with the settings to get the perfect picture. This a great replacement to my TV in the cave. ... show more

  • 4K extremely pixelated. VERY disappointed.
Color: White/Blue
I originally loved the projector. Looked great. 3D looked movie theater quality. However, when I attempt to watch content in 4K, the picture, particularly the backgrounds, were extremely pixelated. Unwatchable. I’ve tried every configuration setting and no success. I tried customer support. However, after briefly speaking with someone in a US call center, they let me know they could only do basic troubleshooting. So they then had me email their customer support team in Taiwan. Extremely slow replies. Asking me for information I had already provided. Ultimately with no success. This is literally the first Amazon review I’ve written in my life. So I’m obviously very disappointed in BenQ. ... show more
