  • The lift works great. Support for the lift is terrible.
I was excited to receive the scissor lift. Installation was straight forward. The first time I did a dry run with out anything on it it worked great. The second time the lift safety latches released but would not release the cylinders to go down. I troubleshot the system and found a bad delay on relay. I called support reached their guru technician who insisted on a video of the failed relay. That show me I was dealing with an inexperienced person wanting a video of a failed sealed ice cube relay. Again I explained to him the troubleshooting process to determine the relay failed. His response was they didn't have the relay in stock. It had to come from China and he need the video to show them the failed relay functioning so Katool would not have to pay for the relay. I told him I was not taking the time and trouble to create a video that would not show anything. Where as the troubleshooting is what proved the problem and I would replace the $12 relay myself. His comment is if I fix it I will void the warranty. My opinion is if they would replace a failed part when it is brand new then what guarantee that they will stand behind a failed month or two from now. After replacing the relay with a $12 replacement the lift has worked well. ... show more

  • Lift works, disappointed in the quality.
Be sure to read Katools website thoroughly. If you so much as breathe the same air as the truck that delivers your lift it'll complicate the return policy. My story, the lift arrived in a smashed up box, the paint was scratched up and the ramp plates and hardware were damaged. If you have doubts about the condition of the product upon delivery be sure to talk to the delivery driver so that they can show you how to sign the bill of lading "pending inspection", so that you can send it back and not have to deal with Katools nightmare return process. Decided to keep it. Throughout the installation I found several issues. The casters provided so that you can roll the lift around don't work at all. The tabs welded to the lift tubes were welded unevenly, and at an angle, with so much slag that the casters would not actually hook onto the lift tubes. I was able to use wheel dollies instead, but the hook arm they give you to move the lift immediately bent when trying to move it, so the casters and the hook arm are both useless. There were no instructions sent with the lift, I had to get a copy from some guy on Reddit, and even that was just a poorly translated and illegible wiring diagram. The casters for the Control Box also did not fit, and the key for the Control Box was not included so I had to drill out the lock. The electrical was a mess, an astounding amount of wires pulled right out of their crimped on spade connectors, relays were not fully seated in their ports, and the connections at the junction box were incorrect. After getting the Control Box finished and the lift set in its place, I was able to test it out. The hydraulic lines to the rams were loose and spit fluid immediately. Tightened those down and was able to get it working properly. At max height I noticed two circlips nearly fallen off of critical rollers. This could have led to the ramp coming off of the scissor arm. Popped them back into place and no issues since. After fixing all of the initial quality control issues and finally getting the lift to work, I will say it works quite well. It raises and lowers quickly with weight on it, and once you disconnect the shockingly loud lowering alarm it's actually a very quiet operation. At max height it felt pretty stable, the rollers contained within the steel plate at the bottom is a huge plus, makes for added stability and doesn't do a bit of damage to my garage floor. Pros: - It's nice and compact - Steel bottom plates mean it's stable and prevents any damage to your garage floor from the rollers - Sturdy locks welded into the bottom plates make for a very safe locking mechanism - There is loads of room to get underneath the car, and you can add risers to work on stuff that would otherwise be obscured by the ramps. - Even the first lock was a very workable height for a standard sedan/coupe. Very pleased with the height this lift can achieve. Cons: - All of the ancilleries that came with the lift were an utter disaster in terms of quality and fit. - The casters on mine are literally unusable, for both lift and control box. - Customer service is weekday business hours only, and if you're like me, you only get to do fun stuff on the weekends so basically no support. - Bonkers return policy that basically bullies you into dealing with whatever garbage you get. - The electrical side of this lift was indescribably bad. The quality of connectors, the lack of a viable wiring diagram, no supplied parts, very frustrating. - It's a lift, some assembly required is to be expected, but this is spiritually the wish.com lift of lifts. Professionally I've used Titan, Bendpak, and Maxjax products, all of which blow this out of the water in terms of quality. It's a cheap lift.. If you buy this, do the following: If the box is smashed up, don't even take it off the truck, have them send you another one. Double check everything electrical for fit and finish, and to make sure it's connected where it should be, specifically the time delay relays, the connections to the main power switch, and all of the connectors to the junction box (numbered box of terminals). Check all the circlips on all the rollers to make sure they are on snug. I would also remove and grease the rollers themselves as they do not come greased. Grease any contact point metal to metal and where the roller blocks touch the ramps. Bleed the hydraulic system, initially one ramp would sit firmly in the lock and the other was just kind of hovering half way in the slot. After bleeding the rams it evened out. You'll need to buy: Electrical connector for the Control Box New spade connectors Some 14-16 gauge wire Hydraulic fluid for the pump (I'm using fram aw32) Some grease Wheel dollies (if your casters are junk) Good floor jack/johnson bar You may need something to shim it to make both ramps level, foam mat/steel plate ... show more
