I bought the dehumidifier to add protection for my piano against damage caused by humidity. The dehumidifier is supposed to be able to dehumidify an entire basement. We have it in one room, the family room. And while it does pull moisture out of the air and display the humidity in the room, it struggles to dehumidify the room below 40%. The tank fills up with water after 7 to 8 hours, and has to be continually dumped. We do not have a window or door through which we can conveniently run the plastic drain line. Dehumidifies very well. One issue is that tank is quite small, if it's humid enough it fills up within several hours (though part of it is due to how well dehumidifier dehumidifies). And attaching hose is harder to figure out than one would expect. But those issues aren't enough to remove a star, the unit is great otherwise, given that I use it in living area. For out of the way area (e.g. basement), I'd either make sure it drains through the hose, or get one with a bigger tank. ... show more

I ordered it after my sump pump failed and partially flooded the basement and left it with a musty smell. Bought it and plugged it in only to realize the new house I bought had a built in dehumidifier unit already but I did run it for a week and it was extracting moisture from the atmosphere like a champ, every couple hours the tank was full of water and after a while it was once a day or two. Only dislike is when the tank is full, the unit goes in stand by mode and blinks a red light but there isn’t a audible sound to let the operator know tank is full, confirmation must be made visually only. I also recommend using a different hose, a vinyl 5/8” ID, 3/4” OD works best if you are using it to drain directly into the drainage system but otherwise it outperformed itself in the week I had it for. ... show more

The humidifier never worked properly. I tried doing everything I possibly could and now it doesn’t work at all the motor runs, but there’s no cooling. No. dehumidification and I didn’t use it very much.

Surprised at how compact it is compared to the one it's replacing. Very quiet operation (it's in my basement). I don't have time to constantly drain the tank so I let it flow into a separate condensate pump which spits the water outside automatically. Making a big difference regarding that musty basement smell. As for durability, we will see. It's recommended you let it stand upright 24 hours so that oil in compressor will be where it needs to be, otherwise it could limit the life of component. ... show more
