I love this little do-hickey! (lol) It came mostly charged up (3 bars) so I got to check out the solar charging feature right away, I had no problems with it so far. It charges in direct sunlight and indirect providing I'm close enough (like when I'm driving, I can leave it on the car seat and it would still charge even if the sun does not hit the panel directly.). I spent the day at the beach and it ran my phone and speaker for roughly 4 hours straight while charging in the sun with no problem at all. It stayed fully charged the whole time. One thing that I did find weird though, when I left it to charge my smartwatch (indoors) it powered down after about 30 mins and I had to turn it back on. The pack was still full at the time so I don't know why that happened. All in all, I did not buy this in preparation for the zombie apocalypse or anything (because it's clearly not meant for that). My previous solar charger I used for hiking and camping swelled up in the altitude of the Colorado mountains, so I have been searching for another one that was good at a decent price. I'm very happy with this item, you can charge it by hanging it on your backpack while you hike, or by setting it outside of your tent. This is a dustproof, waterproof, fast charging USB-C solar charger with 2 led lights with 3 settings (Steady-SOS-Strobe), and A & B USB connection ports to charge more than one item at a time. You can charge this by connecting it to an outlet, your vehicle charger, setting it in the sun and even placing it under a strong lamp. I placed it under my desktop lamp while I was working and it charged from the lamp. The flashlight's brightness is adequate but not impressive. It has a built in SOS function for emergency purposes and has a single button for use and operation. charging it via USB takes a few hours, and I have yet to test how long it would take using solar energy, but I'd assume it would take quite a while. After 4 hours in 6/10 direct sunlight it did not increase in charge (at least the numerical representation of LED lights didn't increase, it may have gained power but theres no way to tell) It has a light censor that will show that it is charging with indoor lighting, but I cant help but think it is actually draining more power displaying that it is charging than it is actually gathering from any ambient light. For the price, power storage, convenience, and novelty, I'd say its a good buy. It has a plastic cover for the charging port that I presume is to help its water resistance, and though I have not tried it and CAN NOT confirm this: I wouldn't trust it to work after leaving it completely submerged in a greater depth of water. The construction of this product seems well done, but the quality of material used is representative of its price compared to competitively similar products. But if you AREN'T budgeting and need something you can be SURE to count on in a situation where you needed it most, I'd get something a bit beefier, with a larger solar array, and built out of more durable materials. However, as a tool to have in general, especially if not desperately relied on in dire situations, it fits well in places, is convenient to have, hold, and use, and it works well and as intended. ... show more

I have bought this in July for a trip to Puerto Rico and noticed it wasnโ€™t charging, my phone or holding a charge from the sun while we were out exploring. Couple month later I have been letting it sit by the window for about a week now. It has shown the lights indicating itโ€™s getting some charge or trying to charge, but now that we have not electricity in the house itโ€™s not charging ANYTHING because itโ€™s deadโ€ฆit doesnโ€™t make sense. This has been my second time buying a โ€œsolar poweredโ€ portable charger and that has continuously failed to do what it says. Donโ€™t recommend buying unless you have good luck. ... show more

I needed a power bank, and I wanted it to be solar as well, I went hiking with friends, and naturally 2 of our friends forgot to charge their phones. We're already hiking about ah hour and I'm not going to go back to my car. So I pulled out my Solar Power Bank -38800mAh Waterproof Portable Solar Phone Charger and clipped it to my back pack and told them they have to keep up with us.... Even though it was overcast at the beginning, the unit was still charging, I have no idea how that was possible nor do I know how much it is charging ,but nevertheless this unit never lost power... I like the charger and it charges well but the solar charging if you wear it down takes days and I even used outside on hot summer days where the sun was really shining. Not as excited about it as the reviews I read said, again if using the USB to charge, it charges fast but takes days if using the solar to recharge. ... show more

This is neat! Useful power source, though even when plugged into USB it takes forever to charge that last little bit. Like, "the rest of your natural life." That last LED will never, ever stop blinking. Charge it for a week, unplug it and immediately plug it in again, it'll be flashing for two or three hours. You will never completely charge it on solar, even if you leave it in the sun in the desert for a year. ... show more
