  • More than 5 degrees of slop
The media could not be loaded. There is angular play in three areas: 1.) the chuck bearing, 2.) the cross-head to guide rails, and 3.) the guide rail mountings. These add up to allow more than 5 degrees of total angular deflection.

  • Junk
Absolute junk. You shouldn’t have the word precision in the name of your product when the tolerances for movement in all directions with the slide for the arbor are over 1/4 inch. It’s sloppy, inaccurate, the arbor is junk. The bearing burned up in under a day and locked up. Do not recommend for a hobbyist let alone a professional. This busted ass piece of 2x4 works better than your hot garbage drill press. Throw them all in the dumpster. Don’t sell another one and rob people of their money. It won’t let me give it zero stars. ... show more

  • Poor quality, mediocre precision.
I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to appropriately warn anyone considering purchasing this drill guide. It is mostly plastic (not always a bad thing, but bad in this case) and of generally poor build quality. The platform is unstable, easily resulting in off-center and off-angle drilling, and this also causes the chuck trolley to bind (even when lubricated) because the rails twist off-center. The chuck axle is made of such soft steel that my drill turned huge furrows in it under fairly tame conditions. The conclusion here is that I wrestled to make this device work through one small project, after which it was damaged enough (and I hated it enough) to toss it in the trash. It served its purpose only because I am very experienced with tools and finishing jobs under adverse conditions, but I would not recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Photo made it look like it was metal
Photo made it look like it was metal. The base and the slider are all plastic. The slop in the drill spindle is 1/8" or more This is not worth your time. I had an all aluminum one years ago and lost it. I had hopes this would work for a project. Save your money.

  • Poorly made, not durable, not precise
The base and the articulation points are plastic. They do not hold their positions. The handle that also tightens one of the guide arms stripped immediately. If both guide arms are carefully aligned with the scale (which is positioned where it is difficult to see, they are not parallel. There is no easy way to tell which, if either scale is correct with a t-square or similar. With everything aligned as well as possible and tightened down there is still a sizable amount of slop in the system. The chuck is cheap junk and more easily unscrews from the mandrel than it tightens the drill bit. 2 stars may be too generous. It can be made to work after a fashion, but it's poor quality, imprecise, and not durable. ... show more

  • Disappointing
Has way too much play in the rails that hold the drill, so I needed to be extremely careful to ensure an accurate hole, even at 90 degree placement. Moreover, the drill chuck provided did not fit the drill collar, so I l needed to tighten the collar with two wrenches. Would not buy again.

  • Has to be a better product from another manufacturer...
The product did work for the function I purchased it for, drilling the angled 20 mm holes in cedar stair rails to accept 3/4" aluminium round balusters. However it was a fight the whole way. The device does not hold its settings very well, so you have to constantly keep an eye on the "set" angle. One of the guide rods became detached from the plastic base, so I had to reinsert it often. The chuck mechanism has a significant amount of run-out, so if you have a need for very accurate placement then good luck. The overall impression immediately after opening the jig is that it is flimsy and it lives up to that impression. I got through drilling the angled holes, but realized that the jig was going to be ragged out beyond being usable before I got through drilling all the 90 degree holes for the porch railings. Ordered a Milescraft jig and received it earlier this week. Haven't put it to work yet, but it is all metal other than the knobs, has detents to help hold "standard" angle settings, and is both heavier and more heavy duty. I'll post a review of that device after I put it to use. Since I have to rebuild one stair rail (one of my holes drilled with the general wandered enough that it blew out the side while I was making it deeper) I should be able to review the same operations with that device. ... show more

  • Don't waste your time and money!
This is a horrible product, not very precise, and just doesn't get the job done. The tool is made out of cheap material (not metal) and will not last long. Don't buy it!!
