  • Great value for an excellent power tool!
Size: 12" Drill Press
Tons of features - laser drilling guide, work light, rack and pinion table height adjustment, tilting table, variable speed lever, all-stop button, digital speed display, quiet, quality materials and construction and gobs of power make this drill press very productive and a blast to use. Setup was simple and intuitive. Power head is quite heavy; best to have helper to attach it to stand. ... show more

  • Incredible quality for the price
Size: 12" Drill Press
I looked at a number of comparisons between this drill press and the similarly specification Wen model. I am so glad I went with this model. The machining on all the cast pieces is clean and even with no rough unfinished edges. I like the flat, thin edge of the table for easy work clamping. The lever operated speed changes with digital rpm readout is a welcome upgrade from my old press that required manual belt manipulation to alter speed. Theoretically you could change it, but it took so long change that for years I just drilled every hole at a medium speed. The chuck has a good solid feel and seems more than adequate for an included part. Considering a “professional” chuck would be roughly the price of this entire drill press I’ll stick with the stock model. I’m saving my most incredible pleasant surprise for last. I would have been happy with a couple thousandths of runout at this price point but when I put a dial indicator on the mounted chuck and rotated it throughout a full 360 degree rotation the needle didn’t even move. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Happy Thus Far.....
Size: 12" Drill Press
Wanted to upgrade my 8" baby drill press to a larger press. Based on a YouTube video I took a chance on this Bucktool 12" press. Packing was good Assembly was easy Mounting to stand was easy Motor is smooth Chuck is nice and smooth Press depth stop is a better design to other drill presses in this class (IMO) Overall finish is very good to me for a budget type drill press Coming from Grizzly, I was always impressed with the quality of their manual. Grizzly provides a very detailed manual that provides specifications, dimensions, footprint, and recommend mounting hardware. The Bucktool manual is not in-depth and only provides the basic info. In fact, I had to post a question here on Amazon just to get the dimensions of the head unit as the manual has no mention of this. This was important for me because I work in a very small shop and space is critical. With that said, thus far I'm really happy with the press. I'm a weekend woodworker so 99% of my drilling will be in wood and based on my tests I have no concerns with the power output. Rated 4 stars! Deducted 1 star due to quality of manual and also Bucktool's Customer Service is not very good. They will respond but are not really helpful. I have no confidence they will be helpful in the event I have a real problem. Hopeful this press is built well and I never have problems. Regards, Verified Buyer ... show more

  • Durable but need better instructions
Size: 12" Drill Press Combo
Durable construction. This unit is very smooth whether using as a drill press or lathe. Nice power while still obtaining a quiet operation. The midi lathe operation is very nice for anyone from the amateur enthusiast to mid level pro. Although it has a sturdy build it is still light enough to be moved around the shop. The only draw back i can find after two months of use it the drill table. It seems to be offset to one side by 1/4 inch and is not centered on the chuck. The laser centering light is a nice touch except when you lower the drill to the working platform. The chuck blocks the light from the work surface. ... show more

  • Good value, solid build
Size: 12" Drill Press
I added a Jacob’s 5/8” keyless chuck and Lee Valley table for woodworking. Works great, smooth operation. Quiet, table has an aluminum fence with T-track for hold down and a dust port that hooks up to my collection system. Slowest speed is 510 rpm or so, but I don’t work enough with steel to justify an extra $2-300 for a lower speed limit. Compares well with Jet, Oliver and Rikon for my small shop. • If you want accuracy, look elsewhere
Size: 10" Drill Press
The media could not be loaded. If I could give this less than one star, I would. Let’s start with the pros. It does indeed press drill bits into things. That’s it. Now the cons, buckle up. The rack system is so poorly constructed that it’s impossible to tighten it up enough to keep the table from moving laterally side to side. On top of that, the vibrations from cause the table height adjustment to move, so forget about keeping a consistent table height. Compound that with the vibrations that cause the depth stop to move all over the place (again impossible to tighten) and you’ve got yourself a real shot in the dark of making some semblance of an accurate bore. If you’re looking for a boat anchor or something to that effect, buy this, if not, run far far away. ... show more

  • Strikes a great balance between value and cost
Size: 12" Drill Press
Chose this after comparing it to the Wen. I was pleased with the ease of assembly - and more importantly - its functionality. Well-worth the the cost, and a great value.

  • Drill chuck arbor doesn't fit chuck
Size: 12" Drill Press Combo
The wood lathe works well, but I just tried to convert it to the drill press and the chuck won't mount with the arbor supplied with the press. I give it 3 stars because the lathe does work well, but it's useless as a drill press. I followed the instructions and also referred to the videos but the chuck arbor is just too small to fit the chuck so any attempts to mount it results in the chuck just falling off. ... show more
