Got this YTZXing 3 piece 5/8"-11 Angle Grinder Extension Shaft set for use around a small homestead and small workshop, for getting into hard to reach places. For testing I tried both a high-end Bosch GWS18V-8 18V brushless 4-1/2in angle grinder and a low-end Avid Power 20V 4-pole-brushed angle grinder, the Bosch is excellent with a heavier gear box with vibration dampening, and the Avid Power is a mediocre generic budget grinder with a light gear box which is very vulnerable to vibration from imbalance. Design is good, fairly simple. Build quality is mixed, at first the heaviness of the solid bar stock is impressive and the 5.5in extension makes a very good first impression, but it fades fast. All three extensions have rough threads, this can wear the black protective coating off of the grinder arbor, and makes attaching & detaching more difficult. The 3.1in extension is slightly out of balance and the 3.9in extension is more out of balance, but the 5.5in extension is good. Functionality is similarly mixed. Rough threads are common on budget tools, to fix this attach the extensions together in different combinations, while working the threads forward & back, until all six seem worn smooth, and wipe threads clean of any metal dust (this is easy to do while watching TV, if it squeaks add a little tool oil). The 5.5in extension is good, works well on both grinders, no vibration (beyond grinder baseline), 5 stars. The 3.9in extension balance is bad enough I'm concerned about excessive bearing wear on both grinders, on the Avid Power the vibration is bad enough to make my hand go numb in about a minute (that's with nothing else attached, no useful work), and the Bosch vibrates a little but mostly gets warmer than normal trying to resist the vibration. With flap disc attached and while doing work the vibration is less noticeable and not really a problem, I suggest limiting use of this extension to lower speeds (by adjustment or work load), avoid running without a work load, and if possible use a heavier duty corded grinder with good vibration dampening. Otherwise this works fine, 3 stars. The 3.1in extension balance is only off by a little, the vibration is immediately noticeable on the Avid Power but not a problem, and is not easily noticeable on the Bosch unless looking for it. Otherwise this works well, 4 stars. Using all 3 extensions together has mild vibration similar to the 3.1in. Price point of $17.99 is average, consistent with similar items, though cheaper items have lower ratings. Overall, 4 stars, decent grinder extensions, rough threads, mediocre balance on 3.9in causes vibration problems. ... show more

I'm generally not in favor of modifying a tool other than what the mfg. designs, but I had to try these. The idea is great , we all want more reach for our grinders, but this brings up safety concerns. The way the torque is converted to the extensions means trouble. If you plan on using these make sure you use the auxcillary handle and hold on tight. If you take your time and think safety, you should be okay. I worked with a guy who used an unauthorized attachment on a grinder, it didn't turn out well. ... show more

I dislike that I am only able to reach a very small range with my angle grinder so when I saw these extensions I was happy that someone else had made a tool to provide more range to my grinder. I like that they are really sturdy and I am able to adjust the extension for as long as I need it. I was able to screw these into my grinder without any issues and it made my sanding projects a dream not to have to try and maneuver corners or angles as I would have previously. I didn't know they made these and now I am not sure how I ever used a grinder without them! ... show more

In certain circumstances these extension are useful but they also exaggerate the incredible amount of torque an angle grinder generates. Always use these with a side handle for control and be extremely careful if you are using a cutting disc, or a grinding wheel, in situations where they might catch or lock in a cut. You will lose control of the tool unless you've got forearms like Popeye and even then it's iffy. These extensions are useful but anytime you're modifying a tool beyond what it was designed to do or removing safety housings you're risking injury, I've got a friend with nine fingers who will testify to that. Just be careful, and be aware and these extensions will work just fine for you. ... show more

These work good for the intended purpose, but the grinder gets a little unstable with the longer ones. They fit a very specific need, but if I don't need it, it can be a bit of a safety hazard depending on what attachment is on it. Definitely need a T handle in your grinder to keep a solid hold on it. ... show more

I had a need to be able to do some grinding in a metal bucket shaped part... these extensions did the trick. Also keep in mind that they can be used together to make a very long extension. (For this, I used a thick glove to guide the shaft and keep it under control.) The extensions are as expected... Heavy steel shafts threaded accordingly on each end. They are as described and pictured on Amazon - 5 Stars from me ... show more
