First Impressions of 3/8 in (10mm) x 16 ft (5Meter) Nylon Static Rock Climbing Rope Explore a Cave Rope Rappelling Rope Rescue Rope Boat Rope Anchor Dock Lines Tree Climbing Felling Pulling Rope Reflective Blue ★★★★★ I am rating this product 5-stars, reliable, practical, strong, reflective strands, affordable. Read on for details. I recently acquired the NorthPada nylon static rope just to use for general purposes around the house, and based on my first impressions I'm quite satisfied. It seems sturdy and more than strong enough for my needs and so far has performed as expected. I really like that it has a high load rating, so I can have the confidence to use this rope for nearly any load bearing purpose without thinking about it. In terms of handling, the rope is relatively stiff, but that has not caused any issues for me so far. I used it to replace a missing tree strap for my hammock and it worked fine. Even after loading the rope relatively heavily, the knots came out easily. The fact that it's a static rope also worked great for hammock use. I'm not as light as I once was and because the rope has almost no give, it stretched very little so I didn't wake up on the ground! The reflective thread woven into the rope is a nice touch. It makes the rope much easier to see by flashlight so you don't trip over it. The included bag is basic, lightweight, and larger than it needs to be for the rope, but works fine and wasn't something I was even expecting to be included for the price. Overall, it seems to be a dependable rope for activities like hiking, camping, or securing equipment. The NorthPada rope gets the job done reliably and affordably and as far as I can tell seems to be way stronger than I'll likely ever need. Thanks for reading and hope this helps. ... show more

    • Not sure I would trust my life to this, but good all purpose rope
I compared this rope to another rated climbing rope I have and that other rope is marketed at 1/2" thick but in reality it is more like 5/8" thick, this rope is rated at 3/8" and definitely isn't any thicker. It does seem to be well made and good quality although it is stiff out of the package, but I think that is a feature, not a detriment since it is supposed to be a static rope, not one with stretch. I am sure it is more than capable to handle the body weight of a human, but as a climbing rope it is probably too short to really be of that much use in climbing. As a general purpose rope around the shop or home it is definitely useful and capable and I am glad I have it. ... show more

This rope almost makes me feel like it's a sample or demo of a larger rope and you just get this small piece to try it out. It's a good quality, strong rope that holds up well to stress, tying, varying loads, etc without any obvious signs of wear. I like how easily it knots- it's right on par with expensive mountaineering ropes. I was able to find other listings from this seller with longer lengths at similar prices. This cord is STURDY. It was even hard for me to cut! I used it to tie about eight tubes together while I went tubing on the river with some friends. It worked great and did not stretch at all.     • High quality static line equal to major name brands
This static line exceeded my expectations for the price. As a rock climber, I have static and dynamic ropes for top rope and lead climbing. I got this piece of rope to use as an anchor for top roping when I secure my climbing ropes a tree. The rope looks like it is German made, feels as good as any brand name rope I've bought, and comes with a small stuff sack to store the rope. It is a strong kernmantle rope composed of a stiff and sturdy outer sheath to protect the core. The rope is a vibrant blue color that makes it stand out from the shrubbery and is easy to spot. I threw this rope in my day pack to have as an emergency rope when I'm out in more rocky and mountainous hikes with friends and kids. If the length is right for you, this is a good alternative to getting a piece of rope from the local climbing store. Definitely worth the money. ... show more

I got this rope for my son's playground. I tied some knots in it for climbing and it works well for him but the diameter of the rope is a little smaller than needed for that purpose. It is a strong rope and looks nice. It's also reflective but I'm not sure that's necessary for a climbing rope. I guess it helps to find it at night with a flashlight. ... show more
