I ordered the 12mm x 20M rope for use in rigging when working on trails. Since we'll most likely be packing the gear in, I should have ordered the 8mm rope instead. As this package is quite bulky. I hope it'll just get used close to the trailhead, and not miles in. The rope itself is decent quality. However, I have to question how strong the end loops are. They appear to be stitched, but one can't tell much when it's all covered with heat shrink tubing. The included locking carabiners are cheap steel (heavy) with sharp edges. The rope appears durable with well made loop ends. The 12mm is bulky and heavy, but I prefer it over the 8mm. I’m sure the 8mm can also hold my weight. I mostly descend, and seldom ascend. This is a really good deal for great quality climbing rope. Whether you are an arborist, or a mountain climber, this is great quality rope. For repelling, or rigging, it works great. It comes in multiple lengths, for multiple different purposes. It is very durable stuff, and has very nice permanent ends on it. They have also included a couple of screw gate d rings, To help you secure your line. This is very heavy duty rope, and very inexpensive. This is a static rope made good for scaling or descending a vertical face. I keep it im my camping gear for multiple uses. The 70ft length gives me plenty of options for a lot of fun things with it. We tied off the end in our most recent trip to make a rope swing into a lake. It comes in a nylon case and the ends have rings to make for easy connections. The bright colors make it easy to see and safer to work around. You get a pair of cloth gloves that won't be much use in heavy work. So, I don't do rock climbing or anything of the sort. But I am a home owner. Having a two story house I'm often stuck with having to get on top of it. This is rope has made it safer and easier to traverse the top of my house whether I'm looking at me solar panels or cleaning gutters and even patching holes to keep out bats. This rope held up. I created some anchor points on the roof for me to hook carabineers on and I'm good. This rope is thick, and tough. I was able to make a swiss seatbelt for some climbing jobs. This rope is far better quality and much stronger than you’ll find at the box stores. It does appear to be suitable for descending/tree-work/fall protection...and perhaps climbing. - The listing claims lab certification, and it appears to be a quality rope. Somewhat rigid/stiff…no apparent defects…quality eye stitching and sheathing. - The carabiners are steel and appear to be strong. They are marked for CE rating…but have rough edges. You’ll want to file down the sharp edges before use. - I like that the eyelets have metal protectors for wear against carabiners. I’m not a climber, so I’ll defer to other for a preference in that regard. - The carry bag is thin and dainty, but it’s nice that it came with one. - The gloves are good for general use (e.g. automotive, house, gardening), but I can’t see these use in any capacity for climbing. I appreciate the extra pair of general use gloves though. Bottom Line: Quality ropes and carabiners. Good value for the current price. ... show more
