No need to buy the name brand version, just to get your external mic to work with an iPhone. This solution is cheaper and works like a charm. I did still have to purchase the Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, but then I was up and running. Used this product with an iPhone, rode wireless go ii, and two adapters (apple and movo) Connected the cable the right way, 3 rings (trrs) towards the smartphone adapter, 2 rings (trs) towards the go ii output stream. No sound recorded. Replaced with another cable, same exact setup - sound recorded as expected. Not sure if I got a lemon, given the amount of reviews it doesn't make sense to me that it's not doing the most basic function it's supposed to - but that's my experience. I'll ask for replacement and will update if they agree, and if the next one works. ... show more
