  • Great buy
Once you figure out where the bolts go (because the description doesn’t specify exactly) it’s a very useful tool to have ( might swap out the jack cylinder for a stronger one I’ll post an update as soon as that happens

  • UPDATE: Low end product, this item is very dangerous
This hoist was used to lift a 350 (575 lbs) and TH400 (180 lbs) out of the car. It backed straight away from the car without issue, but while trying to turn it, it fell over and nearly crushed my 26 year old son. Upon inspection afterward, you can see by the attached photo, both the top and bottom ram bolts bent. This caused the shift in weight and the engine hoist, with load to collapse sideways to the garage floor. Each thread on that ram is a potential weak point that will allow failure. This should have been designed with a properly sized pin. ... show more

  • Good functionality for the price
I bought this to remove the outdrive on a Volvo Penta engine. I made an adaptor for the dipstick hole, and this worked great, but the boom just barely cleared my back boat deck. Only reason for the 4 vs 5 star is the bleed valve handle is too small, and requires a wrench to relive the pressure. Bad design. The package also was completely destroyed in shipping, but all parts survived. Assembly could use better instructions, and some washers, but no big deal. ... show more

  • BENT on 1st use.
crane extension bar crushed/bent while lifting (GM350) engine from the bay on 1/4 ton extension. Had to smash with sledge to knock it back to 1/2 ton. (thin metal) Also beware, the angle bars for stabilizing, are extremely sharp on the fingers. It did the work I wanted it to do.. with the exception of the broken crane. (still operates but it's extension is bent severely.) ... show more

  • Amateur use? - It’s good to go!
No instructions? Yep, turned out to be true but maybe it’s a test. If you can’t McGyver this, maybe you shouldn’t be swapping engines. Took about 30 minutes and a beer to assemble. I’ve owned two other well loved auction find cherry pickers and this seems just as solid. Sure, they all seem rickety until loaded. I just don’t see anything wrong with it. Top professional level? Maybe not but it’s totally fine. Casters are decent. Longest ram of any of I’ve seen - not that straight up is useful other than maybe hanging an elk but it goes nearly fully erect. I’ll immediately update if I find something to cuss about but for now, I was really reluctant to order based on other reviews but I feel good. I trust it as much as any I’ve used. Note- load leveler not included. P.s.s. - of course it’s another 5.4 in the picture 🙄 ... show more
