    • Limited usefulness primarily because of size but also material
Pattern Name: Large：16*20inch
These baskets are pretty small for eating size fish. The biggest is 16" diameter so any bass over 16" is going to be doubled over to some degree and they're not that tall either, so it's going to get crowded pretty fast if you catch a mess of fish. The netting is rubberized mesh so I wouldn't put catfish in here because they'd be likely to tear it up, particularly when you go to lift it out of the water. Has a strong, weird smell that would probably dissipate if left out in the open air. The top is closed by cinching up a rope and then securing it with one of those sliding, push button sting cinchers like you have on coats. You really have to pay attention that you've cinched this thing up tight before you slide the lock down otherwise, there goes your fish. Cinching and un-cinching is a two handed operation and once you get it open, you have to hold the basket still while you drop the fish in - that is if the fish that were in there haven't already escaped from the open top. Comes in a nice carrying bag that they both fit in as well as some extra rope to tie onto the baskets so you can retrieve them from floating away. There's nothing wrong with the construction or materials on these baskets so I'm rating it 4 stars. These would be useful if you were fishing for panfish only or if you were hiking in and needed something compact and light weight to carry. However, it seems to me that a rope stringer would probably be more practical if you were hiking in. Also, old school is to just use a burlap sack with a rope tied to it. That'll handle any size or type of fish without problem and you can release them unharmed at the end of the day if you decide to not keep your catch. ... show more

These are pretty straightforward as they are just a basket but the material feels rubbery but fairly strong. I took the smaller one kayaking and it worked great for 2-3 pound trout and the larger one I think would work great for larger fish. The materials seem pretty good, and the net is rubberized, which I feel is a must in any net these days. These net baskets definitely float though, which is good, as you would have to worry about it sinking with your fish inside of it.
