This product does what it says it will do. I melted down several garbage bags of pop cans and made a couple aluminum ingots. The crucible is showing cracking after this one session, but it was probably my fault as a beginner. The tongs are functional, but not overly sturdy. The mold works well. I used most of a propane bottle to get this done, so it will take some time to get to temp and melt. It's not a bad product. For the price paid, the quality was just fine. ... show more

Very easy to assemble and simple to use if safety precautions are observed. This kiln melted 1 Kg of scrap copper in about 20 minutes from start up to pour. My electric kiln couldn't do it in an hour. Very efficient and I recommend it.

Size: Melting Furnace with 16KG&6KG Crucibles
Melted copper, tried lifting the smallest supplied crucible with the tongs in the kit and the crucible edge broke off and spilled 8 pounds of copper inside the furnace. Tipped the furnace over to get the bulk of the copper out. This resulted in the rivets on the lid handle melting, as they were made of aluminum. The package should include a lifting tong and better crucibles. The provided gloves had incomplete stitching which allowed some of the metal to burn my hand when the crucible dropped back into the furnace. Thank goodness it did not break at my feet. I am ordering some lifting tongs and pure graphite crucibles. I do not know if the insulation is compromised, but will find out on the next attempt. I purchased this product thinking it was well rated. I am now doubting the Amazon rating system. ... show more

16 kg Furnace delivered quickly. Unit seems to be well made & sturdy. Has everything you need to get started (you have to supply the propane). Tong set is shipped separately from the furnace unit. Easy to assemble. Recommend this 16 kg furnace or the 25 kg furnace (I bought one of those as well) to anyone that has large scrap metal to melt down. Seller responds quickly to questions.     • Good starter, but cheap quality in general.
Size: Melting Furnace with 16KG&6KG Crucibles
Handle melted off almost immediately. Maybe use sturdier materials around high temperatures? Burner nozzles are cast iron and will burn off over time. Still works, but could be made of better materials. Valves and piping...really everything could be made better, but for a starter furnace it's fine. You WILL need to get a set of tongs and grips for the large crucible. DO NOT try to use the tongs to lift. The igniter was broken to begin with, and the gloves provided are worthless. ... show more

The metal is thin. After just one use, the surface started to warp, which might be due to poor insulation. The metal deformed when exposed to high temperatures. It's not worth the price.
